Yesterday, I failed to post a blog. I really didn't have anything gnawing at my soul to deliver to you, but as the night wore on- I was torn by not producing an article. The inability to create a little magic for a night made me feel like something was missing. Call it guilt or laziness, but it was anything except- a night of relaxation.
You made read the story…

Is it networking or just office politics?
Don’t you just hate it when some people get ahead by being great “brown-nosers”? You know, those people who just seem to be favored by the people higher on the food chain at work. They’re the ones that the rest of us describe as going out of their way to be phony in order to get ahead.
I’ll admit that early in my career, it bothered me a lot. I was part of that huddle of…

Ten Time Proven Principles of Success
Ever wish a book of answers to life's questions would fall out of the sky?
Careful, it may land on your head. Here is Chapter 1 - The Principles of Success.
I recently came across a list of 10 factors the Investor’s Business Daily (IBD) published in answer to the question, “What is the Secret of Success?”. The IBD studied industry leaders, investors, and…

Avoiding Epic Gift-Giving Fail: 10 Rules for Delightful Gift Giving
Why is it that something that can be filled with such joy and contentment can be so equally fraught with difficulty and bruised feelings?
I love giving, and yet am filled with a certain degree of concern as I choose gifts for the more challenging individuals on my list.
This year, though, I came up with a list of 10 Rules for Delightful Giving that I think is going to make…

Another 30 Minutes of Work Accomplished Today!
In 2003, I graduated with a Business Finance degree from the University of Utah. At that time I was working as a Teller for Bank One, now Chase. I applied for numerous jobs within the bank but no positions were offered. My wife was back in school, our savings was running low and I was feeling…

A "Do What You Love" Tip from a Lottery Millionaire
On Thursday's edition of The O'Reilly Factor, host Bill O'Reilly did a segment on two people who won big in the lottery. He asked them what was the worse thing that happened to them through the experience, and also how it had changed their lives.
The topic is timely because of the recent $588 million Powerball jackpot that will apparently be split by two winners.
One person featured on the show, Steven Wright, won over $200 million, but after taxes received only $60…

The Most Important Preparation of All
Being a health coach, I get numerous “health” newsletters and emails daily in order to stay on top of cutting edge information. Researchers learn something new every day so information changes quickly and what was cutting edge yesterday is out of date today! Several sites have run…

I have always thought of myself as a good listener. Imagine the day I realized I actually wasn’t.
photo by JoеIt was perhaps a year ago while reading a book on communication when I realized the truth. I was a horrible listener. No wonder I felt dissatisfied with how many conversations went. And,…

You were the only one who encouraged me!
Just last week I received a call from a friend with whom I had lunch two months ago. At that time, he told me of a job opportunity which had him excited. He smile then went away as he told me that maybe he should just stick to what he is doing. "Why leave the security of his current job" was his…

Our eyes observe all sorts of activity daily in our surrounding. Choices are constantly marketed as we drive, walk, or journey through media channels. We are so busy ingesting the messages, we often don't think to use our own imagination or envision a possibility towards the future. Visionaries like Zig Ziglar, Henry Ford, Bill Gates, or Steve Jobs are few and far between.
You may read the story …

My friend Ellen's grand-daughter, Carleigh, has done it again. I've written about her before and she again proved how a three year old can permanently write her name on her grandmother's heart. When asked what she was thankful for, she responded without hesitation, "YOU!" meaning of course my friend and her Gigi, Ellen. Don't you know Gigi was pretty excited to hear that response? Wouldn't you be excited to to hear who is thankful for you?
With that in mind and in…

“Blemishes” make life more beautiful
Yesterday I had the opportunity to spend part of my day out in the sun and fresh air. Although I was searching for some photographic inspiration, I found the light too harsh and the colors around me too washed out for my preference. As such, my gaze kept wandering upwards to the sky, and I noticed that it was clear, blue and sparkling – not a cloud to be seen.
Now some people would search days for a sky like that – what they would deem to be perfect and “blemish” free. …

Zig Ziglar, The World Lost a Great Man Today
I was a late bloomer to the inspiration of Zig Ziglar-- I didn't discover his books until a few years ago when I took a job as a Sales Manager for a videophone company. For anyone in sales, Zig's name is the one which comes up every time.
This morning, the world lost a great man. …

Whole Person Healing
Every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon I arrive 45 minutes early to set up the Total Body Challenge class in the gym. Setting up for this class is time consuming as each station is prayerfully planned to offer both variety and challenge to the student. Each station employs an exercise and a unique piece of exercise equipment, that when engaged, will work the entire body. Some of the equipment is simple and easy to set out, while other pieces are heavy and bulky, and more difficult to position.…
