Don't Neglect Your Other Brain
While you may think the brain in your head is what controls your moods and how you feel, research reveals that your gut – or digestive system plays an even greater role. We have heard for a while now, thanks to yogurt commercials, that 70% of our immune system resides in our gut. But our moods – really?…

Accomplish Anything in Six Months
I had the unique pleasure of interviewing Alan Jackson. He is a life coach with a new program called Six Month Jump. Here’s an excerpt from Alan’s site .
“Imagine having years of roadblocks eliminated from your path. Imagine the success you can create when excuses no longer define you actions. Imagine having answers that allow you to get a 6-month jump on just about anything.”

One in, One out. Time Management tips
Time management, an ongoing challenge for busy people. If I asked you to commit to an activity that would take some of your time, what would be the first thing you would do? Would you just say “Yes.” as a knee-jerk reaction? Would you carefully consider the activity and if so, what would you base your decision on? Last, and most importantly, would you carefully consider what to remove from your schedule in order to make room for the new activity?

I wrote this last week in another context -- actually for a recovery group I'm involved with -- and it sounded so good I made a blog post out of it.
But it's interesting how fear works. On the surface, it's self-contradictory. It travels in pairs sometimes, with both ends of the scale represented.
Here's what I noticed:

I enjoy reading recipes online and seeing the pictures that show the food in various stages of preparation as well as the completed product. This picture shows my healthy granola bars in a stage of their journey. That stage is known as ALMOST GONE! These little squares are so dad-gone good (yes, that’s a good Southern phrase and I have no clue what it means!), and they don’t last long around my house.
Eating healthy…

When I passed Sims Elementary School on my daily walk Monday, the parking lot was filled with cars. As I drove along Potts Road Tuesday, I found myself behind a school bus making a trial run. When I asked my buddy to meet me for a round of golf Friday, he reminded me that he had to report to school for the first day of pre-planning. The signs are everywhere. School is about to be back in session — but for the first time since 1958, I am not.
I still remember my first day of school as…

Quit quitting?
I teach people not to set a goal to quit smoking, quit drinking, or lose weight. Sounds like a good way to stay unhealthy doesn’t it? How can someone build any credibility that way? Because it doesn’t work. AA has taught many of us that you can’t ever, ever say you have quit anything until you die. That’s the first day that you know you really did quit this time. I tell people ‘you can’t measure quit’ and it’s true. My history is loaded with attempts to quit something that lasted…

You Don’t Need to Diet – Even if You Need to Lose Weight

Say "Cheese"
I love to scrapbook. Special events in my life are always marked with pictures so memories will not be forgotten. I've heard my children tell stories of their past because they remembered seeing the pictures. I took pictures of important times and pictures of everyday life in our home. I had more opportunities this week to take pictures as we celebrated my husband's Grandma's 90th birthday. It was a lot of fun making memories. Over the years, though, I realize that I'm not in the pictures…
