Even winners lose sometimes
Tonight the nation watched as the U.S. Hockey Team lost in overtime to Canada. I mentioned to my wife prior to the game that regardless of the outcome......everyone playing would go home with a medal. After seeing the difference on the faces of the silver medalists and gold medalists......it was obvious that the silver medal was simply a consolation gift. Team USA wanted the…

To nurture your talents and strengths is to nurture the Divinity within you.
I received an email from a gentleman, he made the comment (paraphrasing) that to focus on one’s strengths, could keep you locked inside a “comfort zone”.
While there is no question, that in the real world, the endzone is usually located clear on the other side of the field from the comfort zone, here’s a different perspective: What he referred to as a “comfort
zone”, might actually be what…

To step into the new day, without first preparing your mind and spirit, is like beginning a footrace with your shoes untied. You’ll trip yourself up every time.
As the rattle of the alarm clock pierces the silence of the morning, on auto-pilot, most people jump into their routine, and begin the rush of the day. Rush to take a shower. Rush to grab a cup of coffee. Rush
to get the kids to school. Rush to the office.
With that kind of rushing, is it a surprise, people…

Dear Hubby and I had an argument this week. It was on Monday and it was a fairly major disagreement primarily brought about because God's plan for marriage is for a husband and wife to commit to one another for a lifetime--not to have second spouses! Being a second spouse is trying at times, and impossibly difficult at others, because no matter how much the first spouse leaves, moves on, and claims to…

There's a Bathroom on the Right!
Communication. One simple word that can generate fantastic results, or horrible results. In this age of incredible technology and instantaneous communication, a simple MIScommunication can cause all kinds of issues. For example, you visit your doctor for a minor medical issue, and a miscommunication to the pharmacist causes a different drug to be provided to you than the one the doctor actually prescribed. You take the drug, and one of two things may happen. The drug may have absolutely no…

The task or function of a job is hollow; the reason for which it’s done, and the people whom are served, stirs sleeping spirits.
I’ve had the distinct privilege of working with many people throughout the years; helping them tap into their vocational calling.
In searching for one’s life’s work, a common mistake people make, is that they try to search out a particular occupation or a company,
In doing so, often what they find, is that they wind up stuck in a J-O-B,…

Product / Service Identification
While driving across town between appointments this morning, I noticed a food delivery truck heading toward one of my favorite restaurants. Normally I wouldn't have noticed, but something about the company identification on the door caught my attention. After doing a double take, I realized the company name, "Butts Foods." This caused me to think about how and why we choose particular names for our businesses. Somehow, Butts Foods doesn't have a particularly appealing sound to me. Maybe it's…

Put the Power Where Your People Are
Most people shop the market with the intention of displaying all their badges of success on the table. They say with confidence, “I’ve done this, and I’ve done that, or I can do this, or I can do that, and have this many rewards”.
Well that’s great and all, and knowing you have this much experience really says a lot about what your mind can produce. But keep in mind that in the midst of this economic change, work models are changing, and the old saying that says experience…

The Purpose Driven Hamster
My oldest son has been keeping hamsters in my office. He had 3 females, and the rule my son was told is that they don’t like to have more than 2 in the cage, and they can live up to 2 years.
Well, come to think of it we don’t really know how old they were when my son bought them, so they could have been about to kick the bucket anyway. Well, we would here them fight and scream (or squeak), until one day sadly we found one that had evidently passed on to her maker. We’re still…

Did you ever get that feeling of, “Where did my money go?” This used to happen to me years ago when I was an idiot without a budget. The key is not only having a budget but to be intentional on how and where you place your
money for that month. Let me explain.
I always ran into trouble every time I dumped all of my money for the expenses into one checking account. Subconsciously, I wouldn’t keep tabs on…
