E-books or printed material: Which do you prefer?
E-books or traditional books?
E-books have been around for years, but they have grown more popular with the introduction of e-book readers, such as Kindle, Nook, iPad, and numerous other brands of readers. Personally, I have purchased a number of e-books over time, and have enjoyed reading them on my computer. Once in a while, someone who feels themselves to be more high-tech than I am will ask, “So, why are you still buying and reading traditional books instead of e-books? …

The Purpose of Pain: Part 1
My husband and I had a rather interesting discussion as we lay in bed early Saturday morning. The topic of discussion was the amazing human body, from the miracle of conception to the body's ability to heal itself. Although I don't remember how we even got started on this subject I took the opportunity to share with him some of things I had been learning in the class I am taking. The topic was pain and the function of pain in the body which is a subject that is quite fascinating to…

Today's reflection - "Could someone you know help steer you into a course correction?"
For two decades, she wrote charts, comforted families, and brought beside-manner to her patients.
And, over time, she developed the skills that would help her not only function, but also excel in the health care field.
As her kids were moving on with her lives, she knew that now was the time for her to move on with hers.
Ever since she was a little…

One Day To Decide, Should We Go Down To One Car?
Claudia and I have been thinking a lot about what's really necessary in the wake of setting a goal to simplify. Now that Claudia is working only one day a week, we are deciding if we want to go down to one car. Rather than endlessly discussing it, we set a decision deadline. That deadline is now one day away!
It's a…

A gift so rich
The stores have begun stocking all the trappings for Valentine's Day-cards, candy, clothes and jewelry-and yet something they never mention is actually one of the best gifts a mom could ever give and families could ever receive.
A tropical cruise? Fun and…

hunger...
i hesitate to even write this,but then i realize,why should i hide?...others probably feel just as i do,and just maybe,i can help even one other,just to know,its ok to feel...as i do...
having been dumped on,and left for dead,i know its so childish to think, that those that were trusted, would be capable of such fate...
should i just pull myself up by my bootstraps, and become the self made man?..that needs no body, but myself, and beat everyone down that gets in my…

Today is one of those days when the yuck has hit me. I have a stomach bug. You know the feeling. Your tummy area feels as if a tractor trailer loaded with bricks has run across it, backed up, performed a three-point turn, and skidded its tires before going on its merry way. Then for the pure fun of things, the truck returned for a repeat performance. It has left me feeling less than 100%, to say the least. I have taken advantage of this unexpected visit from the tractor trailer from –…

realized fear from false target...
i am learning,a moment at a time, that everything i knew, was never my own.funhouse mirrors thought to be so true...
this is where the body would come in,but,if we dont ask,no one knows...a child follows, but an adult would lead.
bits and pieces here and there..all i had to work with was a hurt, wounded childs pattern...it wasnt my fault i know, but the prison i was forced in,i didnt know...
and now it seems,im supposed to be the adult that sees...but what do,when whats…

Do You Inspire?
I was recently listening to a talk where the presenter mentioned the importance of acknowledging the difference between inspiration and information. The ironic thing about this talk was that it was one of the most uninspiring talks that I’ve ever heard! I’m not saying that the talk was bad, but it just wasn’t inspiring. The speaker had a nice presence, tone, etc. but inspiration was definitely lacking. To be honest, other than that one phrase “inspiration vs.…

We all want to be influential. We all want people to remember us. We all want to make an impact on people's lives. So how can we do this? Simple remember people's names. Dale Carnegie in his book, How To Win Friends and Influence People, says, "Remember that a person's name is to that person the sweetest and most important sound in any language."…

embracing the past, because the future wont let it go...learning to untangle
...and then i realized, these patterns were never meant for me. how many people have lived someone elses life, and never know it?...waking up feeling the toxic shame of a mindless existence, being blamed and dumped on...unaware that its had nothing to do with them at all!...but what could a naive, helpless child have done?...
i am aware that my original family system was steeped in total spiritual, mental and emotional darkness...and i guess, the hardest part about it...processing. wow.…

It's a new day. A new you. Step out and dare to challenge yourself, dirty yourself, be willing to fail and accept the NO's only implying Next Option. For only those who try and dare to fail greatly ever succeed. You will win if you don't quit. So long as there is breath in you, persist.
Often time we give up too soon, too often. sometimes almost at the verge of breaking through or winning.
Choose this day not to give up, give it one more try, one more…
