Oh Kermit, the Wise One!
Kermit the Frog once said "It's not easy being green!" Today he would say "it's not easy being green unless it's economically convenient." Many are passionate about the environment when there is something to gain: savings, feeling better, better gas mileage, etc. Yet when push comes to shove their passion really isn't the environment, it's another type of green -
money!
Now don't hear…

"The journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step." - Chinese Proverb
True...but that pesky first step can be a killer, can't it! I love Will Rogers' quote, "Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there." So many times we have great intentions. We're going to read a good book, write out our five year life plan, start a new business, lose weight. But for some reason, we can't quite get around to taking that first step.
We're all…

This repeated theme keeps coming back to me day after day. This notion of not being full of fear. I realize that doesn't mean being wreckless. I just think there is one shot at this life. uno. And I cannot fathom why fear would be helpful in living life to the full.
I am working 3 full time positions in one part time job. Due to cutbacks (of which I wasn't one...thankfully) I am feeling the weight of this.
Doing someone elses bookkeeping and maketing, and organizing, and…

When I was 13 years old I painted a horse head with a paint by numbers layout. I thought it was pretty good, but now that I’ve seen some real masterpieces I realize it was pretty amateurish. The paint was clumpy where I tried to stay inside the identified lines. It didn’t look real; it just looked like I did a good job of painting. My wife Joanne, on the other hand, has drawn some amazing pieces – always starting with a blank canvas and then allowing her imagination to direct her brush or…

What if what you really, really, really want to do for a business is really your reason for being here? It wouldn't get any better than that. Let yourself want what you want to do for a business with no apologies. Don't feel a need to explain what you want and why you want it to others.
Quite simply, if you just accept that you were put here to do this great idea of yours, then, once you accept it, you will notice that it is OK for you to want it. You don't have to justify it. No…

I feel a bit of a nudge, more like a shove, to come back home from work. I think God is saying, "quit holding onto something that isn't your confidence, and jump into my arms and find out what kind of provision I am capable of." BUT, I don't want to be irresponsible. Oh what to do. Waiting for discernment.
Hubby is wanting to go part time and work his business full time. And I think I could really benefit him more staying home.
OOooh. what 2 do, what 2 do.

I had a discussion with a mom last night who is considering homeschooling one of her kids next year. She asked me the usual questions but the one that made me wince was "What do you do for history?"
I talked about
Beautiful Feet for American History....
Story of the World for ancient history....museums....blah, blah. Little did she know I was squirming a little inside because I haven't been "up" in history this year.
Fast forward to today. Molly and Caleb are…

Everyone's Favorite Radio Station: WII-FM: What's in it for me?
I say change the channel!
To often, those around us make decisions based on their own selfish motivations. Why do you think the world is in such a financial mess? Greed, deceit, and selfishness are at the center of this economic collapse. The mantra becomes, "if I don't see a personal benefit, why do it?" Those who live only to please themselves perish…

I know in my mind and soul that I'm only at peace when I'm working for me. Each of us was wired to implement the vibrant passions of our minds. To spend our days creating what only we have been gifted to create.
How to fulfill that when you've devoted the bulk of your waking time to someone else
(employer/company)...escapes me. 'Entrepreneurship' is not something I merely think is good...but vital.

Do You Have A Servants Heart?
Monday, March 30th, 2009 at 9:10 am
My daughter and I were out shopping for my husbands birthday last week - three hours before his surprise birthday party. However, with a crying one year old, I found myself in a frantic panic trying to shift her around in her stroller while holding a hand full of clothes and looking for her bottle, pacifier or anything to calm her down. In an effort to pick her up, I went to place the clothes on a little rack at…

I had an interesting conversation the other day with a good friend of mine. The question of how the realist is always questioning why and how the optimist is always questioning why not became our primary interest at that point. We were thinking about the mind of an optimist when thinking of the realist may usually tend to appear pessimistic at times, and how the realist will always tell the optimist to get their head out of the sand and quit dreaming, but the optimist will continue dreaming,…

I am sometimes a little slow when it comes to new technology but I am extremely baffled by the new fascination with “Twitter”. If you are not aware of this new phenomenon, this is how “Twitter” defines itself:
Twitter is a service for friends, family, and co–workers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing?
Is it just me or does anyone really care what I am doing or vice…

What is most important to you?
What are the things you value most in life? What motivates you? What principles are a part of your decisions? What are you trying to accomplish in life? These are just a few of the questions you will discover in the Proud to Own Process.
It is very easy to get caught up in the grind of everyday life. We do not stop to smell the roses. We are so busy yet we often miss some of the most important things in life. It is those who take the time,…
