A great end to Celebrating Women's Month
I had the opportunity to speak at the Lompoc Women's Federal Correction Center. Yes a prison. I accepted this speaking engagement to be able to share my story of overcoming my challenges. I had expected an audience of 80, which turned out to be 280, including the Warden and assistant Warden. The audience was dominated my men. When speaking I gets myself prepared, but the unknown is difficult to prepare for. Speaking at a federal prison I certainly did not know what to expect.
What I…

Health: Are You Silencing Your Body’s Cries for Help Rather than Addressing Them?
If you broke your arm, would you go to a herbalist or a chiropractor? No, of course you wouldn’t! You would go to your physician or to the emergency room and have a conventional doctor set the bone so that it heals properly. Perhaps you’d also visit an orthopedist who specializes in broken and fractured bones. And that…

VALIDATION
Several years ago I read a book that spoke into my life on many levels. One word jumped from the pages into my brain and I have spent the years since embracing and better understanding the word validation, the process of recognizing the authenticity of one’s emotions or possibilities.
A well-meaning parent, teacher, or friend can undermine one’s potential by carelessly ignoring or carelessly discounting the importance of one’s passion or feelings. I am…

I’m not a very trusting person.
Stuffing and pretending and complaining only get you so far, y’know? And after 44 years of leaping frantically back & forth between control and victimization -
I’m realizing how little I really know about trust.
So I…

Justice Can Be Known By Its Fruits.
Justice exists in the human realm. When plant succession leads to one species-type replacing another no plant cries "foul." When a snake comes upon a mouse hole and enters and eats its inhabitants there is no picketing for justice by other mice! However a sentimental human may see these occurrences and try to superimpose a belief and come up with an interpretation that an injustice has occurred. Without the existence of humans it can be said that there is no concept of…

I constantly have a story in my mind about myself. It’s like an eight-track player. The songs change every few minutes, but after a while, the loop comes back around and I’m listening to the same tape over and over all day.
You experience this as well. Each one of us does. A loop that reminds you of who you believe you are, where you came from, and where you think you’re going.
Every day there’s a story in your head.
Occasionally, someone takes the…
