Are Brand Names Running Your Life?
Does the tag in your daughter’s shirt determine how you spend your time? Let me explain what I mean. Do you worry about your kids doing what all the others are doing when it comes to awards, grades, achievements, sports, the latest styles and name brand clothes? Maybe there’s some other social trophy you push your child to achieve that will give you bragging rights. Our world provides many options to choose from, but most will not matter 10 years from now.Hopefully we’ve figured out that…

Show 066: Finding your Voice - Mending her Heart
Caring, faithful, and empathetic in nature, as she went through the pains brought on by the divorce proceedings, and wearily walked through the fallout left in its wake, her confidence was severely shaken, her self esteem, barely breathing. (Jump to the show.)
And, while Diana spent the first phase of her adult life doing what any good mother…

Hunker Down
I live on the East Coast and woke up to a frosty windshield this morning. I know what. It's time to hunker down. By the time we are all thawed out from the winter I will have projects FINISHED. I have to make carving out time easier. I've changed my mind, and plan to keep my plate empty of needless things.
I have to hunker…

Patent Needed?
I know I've written in before and am always asking about a wide variety of subjects. I am interested in alot of different things and want to do alot of different things but I feel the thing I know most about and like doing the most is lawn care and landscaping. As a part of my lawn business I help people get vegetable garden growing. I will be teaching a couple of gardening classes in January and would like to sell some of the gardening products I build. One of those products is a…

Just Bee-lieve...and live!
I’m sure some of you have read that according to all known laws of aviation, there is no way that a bee should be able to fly. Its wings are too small to get its fat little body off the ground. The bee, of course, flies anyway. Because bees don’t care what humans think is impossible. Heh. I like…

A Wiser Woman
Having a life of regrets and guilt does not a body good. But guilt and regrets are feelings. They are not body parts one is born with. I have learned a lot about feelings in the past year. I am in my sixties and would have thought I would have it “all together “ by now but not so. Does anyone? I actually thought forty years ago that when I got this old I would just be sitting back enjoying all the knowledge I had accumulated over the years and life would be a breeze. Oh, the naiveté…

Words of Wisdom: Serenity - Part 2 of 5
QUOTE:
"Serenity is not freedom from the storm, but peace amid the storm."
- Anonymous
INSPIRATION:
So often people run from storms in their lives by doing everything possible to avoid them.In life, there will always be storms - that's life. I feel that in life you are either just out of a storm, you are in a storm or there is a storm in your future. So if this is true, learning how to have serenity in the midst of a storm is…

Sunday, October 30, 2011 - "Sunrise of Your Smile"
I just sang my 11-month-old daughter to sleep and had to fight back tears while doing so. Here is one of my favorite “lullabies” I sing to her. It was written by Michael Card for his album “Poiema” (which I highly recommend purchasing).
SUNRISE OF YOUR SMILE
Reject the worldly lie that says that life lies always up ahead.
Let power go before control becomes a crust around your soul.
Escape the hunger to possess the soul-diminishing success.
This…

CTRL+ALT+DEL
Everyone has experienced the absolute frustration of something locking up or not working right on their computer. I certainly am no tech geek, so please don't hold it against me, but I use this combination of keys (Ctrl+Alt+Del) when I need to stop whatever is going wrong so I can start over.…

In the last few months, I've been writing.
One of my new year's goals was to write and publish a book, and as the year is going by so quickly I have been frantically writing...
The funny thing is that while I spent a lot of the time writing, I found out that I spent a lot more time doing everything else... Here is the list of…

Where Have All the Blogs Gone . . .--because life matters!
“Where Have All the Blogs Gone . . .”—thought (not sung) to the flower children’s lyrics, “Where have all the flowers gone . . .”
It’s a terrible fright to be stuck in Word Docs when the world functions in ultra-modern change-every-other-day social media, most of which some of us have never heard. Assign me a book to write, and I’m on it. Ask me to fashion complex sentences with subordinate introductory or conclusive clauses, properly punctuated—then ask me to explain…

Saturday, October 29, 2011 – Progress must be progressive
It was hard to hide my disappointment last night as I watched the Texas Rangers practically give a World Series victory to the St. Louis Cardinals. Were they playing as hard as they could have? Thursday night they gave up a 2-run lead in the 9th inning. Last night, they scored two runs in the first inning and failed to score again for the rest of the game.
Now let’s talk about me – and perhaps you too. Are there areas in which I have started out great and…

Friday, October 28, 2011 – Merry Christmas!
I start playing my Christmas music early. If I said I started today, that would not be an accurate statement. If I said I’ve been playing my Christmas music for a little over a month now – that would be a little closer to the truth.
Ever since I was little, I always viewed Thanksgiving and Christmas as identical twins. Giving gifts and candy-filled stockings were the only striking differences. Our family boycotted practically everything about Halloween (a tradition I…

"Chuck Norris" Your [Financial] Potty Mouth
In Kent Julian’s new book on awesomeness, Who Wants to Be NORMAL Anyway?, he has a chapter on your potty mouth. In order to become awesome and successful he suggests you “Chuck Norris” it. Seriously. It is an amazing message on how not to fall into the bottom 50% of unsuccessful people. Your words really do reflect your brains.
You can also have a potty mouth when it…
