I am new to the forum and thankful that I have found it.
I am considering the idea of a mobile food business this year and would like to know if anyone has any helpful suggestions on past successes/failures that I can help build upon.
It seems that everywhere I travel with the band I meet aspiring musicians that are longing to "make it" in the music business. I hear them tell me about their desire to play music for a living. We usually get a few cds a week from people that want our opinion of their music. Some of the music is good and some of it is not so good. Regardless of the music quality, the dreams are all the same. Passion is interesting to say the least. For me to write a detailed list of all of the things to do in… Continue
A lot of people have trouble with writing on a consistent basis and producing content for their site. I hear people complaining they can't think of what to write about or, that they are no good at writing. Well I say if you can't write, you better learn if you want to succeed on the internet.
The internet is all about content and you need to generate useful content yourself or hire someone to do it for you. I think anyone can become a better writer through some easy steps. You need… Continue
For the past two years I haven't had a single day where I haven't had to rush out at a certain time...until today.
With the exception of holidays and being out of town, I haven't had a single break. I'm in the office Monday - Friday. Saturday morning I host Past Due: Radio and Sunday we rush out for church.
But that all changed today.
I stepped back from from hosting Past Due: Radio and left it in the very good hands of… Continue
Some of us get stuck from time to time when writing on our blogs. What we do not realize is that there are many different types of blog posts that we can use. Below are 8 of my favorite types of blog posts. Now, there are more then these, but I believe that these are the most effective:
* Pillar Article - Usually a series of articles about a important or popular subject. It is great to use this type of blog post early in the life of your blog. It teases the reader as your… Continue
One of the great joys of life is being able to encourage and assist others in accomplishing their dreams. It has been a wonderful privilege of mine to walk alongside a good friend as he has accomplished one of his dreams. When Letters to God opens in theaters April 9, people all across the nation will be able to receive an incredible blessing as they watch the dream of Patrick Doughtie become a reality.
Following the death of his son Tyler, Patrick has lived with a… Continue
The group of the mantra teachers training course 2010 is chanting the "Jaya Jaya Devi Mata" Mantra. It is a very enthusiastic perfomance of a beautiful song. Live-recording in Yoga Vidya Ashrama, Germany…
A couple of weeks ago I met with JB, and afterward he was kind enough to point me to the nearest Borders Bookstore. (There is no Borders or B&N where I live so I have to visit one any time I'm near one.) One of my great loves is children's literature, and I'm always up on who wins the prestigous Newbery Medal, etc. I suppose it's because I didn't read these books when I was a kid that I get so much out of them now.
Since it was a weekday, the store was mostly void of foot… Continue
As a Sales Coach I am asked a lot of questions centering on “Closing the Sale”. Do YOU believe this is the greatest concern of your business or sales process? I do not want to diminish the importance of “Closing”. I understand that having a proactive closing technique is essential to successful selling.
In my sales training, I teach that “closing” is about 10% of the sale process. If this is the case, then you have some work to do building trust, rapport, identifying needs, asking… Continue
There is a new policy at Molly's school innocuously called, “Not There Yet.” It mandates a minimum 80% on all tests and quizzes for 7th and 8th graders. Is it a stretch to imagine that this policy is driven by the Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program? (TCAP)
Failure to obtain an 80% results in a mandatory “remediation” session after school until the 80% is obtained. Failure to do that results in a three hour detention. By gosh by golly…This kids WILL learn!
Last Tuesday, I met with JB to discuss possible career change opportunities. One of the areas my GTPs (Gifts, Talents, Passions) most prominently pointed to was advertising/marketing. This is an area which on the business/professional level I know very little about; but I love to promote. I love to be creative in how I promote. One way I do this is through typing product reviews on Amazon.com, which I have been doing for a little over 10 years with over 250 reviews.
Have you ever given any thought to the power the word NO has on your marriage? What might be a minor decision for a wife/husband (do we or don’t we make love tonight) can have a larger impact on our marriages, especially if the rejection is repeated often. Stop rejecting your spouse and watch your marriage flourish.
A lot has happened on the Media Sites this past 24 hours. It is really no surprise by the current events, and I am sure each of ya'll has been throughly informed (so I won't take time to recite even the highlights). What really puzzles me is, where, of those who may be like myself, go from here?
It is really, and should be no surprise, how 2010 will play out. There will be many questions to ponder now as time flies, and soon we will be in the 2nd month of this year. According to the… Continue
Last night I, along with many people around the world, tuned in to watch the President's State of the Union Address. I've always enjoyed watching this speech, no matter who was in office, simply for the fact that I am a fan of looking where we've been, are currently, and are going. No matter what your political party affiliation, I think we can all agree that this type of introspection is especially needed in our country today. In fact, I… Continue
Since I left home two days ago for our trip to Florida, two people have died whom I care about. Two funerals I would want to attend if I were home. I have been in constant consternation since I left wondering if I should turn around and return home. I take friendships seriously. And although both the beautiful women who died were aged and at peace with their fate, they leave behind family members who are dear friends of mine. I want to be with them to comfort them in their loss.
It’s a new year and everyone is beginning to receive their W-2s and 1099s as the tax season quickly approaches. I was speaking just yesterday with a woman who said she looked at her W-2 and the first thought that crossed her mind was, “Where did all that money go?”
I talk at length with folks about the personal side of personal finance – how you behave with money will indicate your likelihood of financial success with far greater accuracy than how much you know about the world of… Continue

I Wish You Enough…four little words packed with meaning. Stop for just a minute and think through those words.
I recently had the opportunity to review a wonderful, thought-provoking gift book: I Wish You Enough by Bob Perks. Have you ever wished enough of anything for your spouse? Ever wished them enough happiness, love or good luck? Do we ever think of having enough ourselves? Sure, when things are bad we’re quick to say… Continue
There is a lot of discussion among bloggers as to whether a nice blog theme really matters.
My answer.....it depends.
I know...I know. I should probably take a stronger stand, but my point is a balanced approach is necessary. I have others that started blogging when I did and they faded and lost interest. Why? They got too bogged down in the details. On the other hand, I can show you a blog that looked horrible and yet they have 20,000 subscribers that follow the… Continue
