The Phone Call
I was working at a client's office today, taking care of several I.T. related issues that only us nerds find interesting. Around 2pm, my cell phone rang - it was Wayne, another one of my clients.
Wayne only calls me when he either wants to talk about airplanes or if something is wrong.
Today was not an airplane day.
Wayne wanted to know if the clicking noise coming from the hard drive and the "disk not found" error…

Just read an interesting article posted on Harvard Business Publishing about the possible ‘new’ consumer mentality. Just as in the book “Who Moved My Cheese” there is opportunity if we’ll just move to it. So if conspicuous consumption is out and stealth wealth is in, if gadgets and vacation home purchases are out and ‘experiences’ are in, what can we do in our businesses to provide our clients with the ephemeral experience that brings value to their lives?
Here’s a brief excerpt and the…

In six days, Americans will elect a new President, select a new Congress, decide one-third of the Senate, and decide numerous Governor, state, and local races.
No matter what happens, God is in control. We should still operate our businesses with biblical principles. We shouldn’t abandon America, but fight for her! Some are arguing if Senator Obama is elected, we should sell everything, go to cash, and head to another country. Others believe Senator McCain would continue Bush…

Most twelve-step programs define insanity as doing the same thing over and over again while expecting different results. Those credit cards that have barely budged during the last few years while you have been “getting out of debt” are a sure sign that your plan is not working. Since we just identified your problem, why do you keep doing the same things while expecting to be debt free? It will not work.
“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created… Continue

It really is. If you look at the overall effort of the current presidential race, it's ultimately about one thing...image. If it was about the facts, it would be as simple as each candidate doing three things:
1. Showcase a bio on their past experience and history, personal and professionally,
2. They'd fill out a questionnaire on where they stand regarding all the relevant topics
3. They'd do a handful of debates and personal appearances so we…

It's like rain on your wedding day
It's a free ride when you've already paid
It's the good advice that you just didn't take
Who would've thought ... it figures
Well, life has a funny way of sneaking up on you
When you think everything's okay and everything's going right
And life has a funny way of helping you out when
You think everything's gone wrong and everything blows up
In your face

I saw this a while back and just read it again today. You
HAVE to read this! This is so true....
If I Were The Devil
By Paul Harvey
"I would gain control of the most powerful nation in the world.
I would delude their minds into thinking that they had come from man's effort, instead of God's
blessings.
I would promote an attitude of loving things and using people, instead of the other way around.
I would dupe…

I've had some questions about inserting images into a blog post.
I created a screencast that'll show you how to do this step by step.
Click here to go to the screencast (then click on the "play" button...its the triangle on its side in the middle of the big picture).
Its important to make sure that you are using this tool to do it on the toolbar when you are…

Are you saddened by any of the following?
• The rising number of abortion clinics and facilities?
• The increased activity from "pro-abortion" activist groups?
• The shady, deceptive practices being used by the pornography industry?
• The number of deaths caused by the tobacco industry?
• The number of families being torn apart by addictions from alcohol and gambling?
• The promotion of homosexuality?
If any of these issues deeply sadden you,…

Actually this post has nothing (and everything) to do with why Kevin is so good at what he does...I was just trying to get your attention and having trouble coming up with a great blog post title.
I recently received a great question from Kevin Miller:
Jon,
So at any social network, like ours, what everyone wants ultimately is...attention. They want:
Friends
Members to their group
Comments to their blogs and discussions and…

My vocation is to lead businesses to be compelling to their target market. I do that via establishing their brand, then positioning them to hit that market with the desired image to attract...ultimately...sales.
To hone my craft I am a constant student of what is succeeding in the market place...why...and then I apply it for the success of myself and my clients.

What woman my age (won't mention the age - but you can guess) hasn't grown up loving that song? From Judy Garland to Patti LaBelle to American Idol's Kimberly Locke; every version is chilling and beautiful. I couldn't help but think of that song all week long after my interview with Devon Wallace. If… Continue

There are more and more people struggling with debt as economic times have become increasingly more difficult. Credit is tightening, banks are collapsing, Wall Street is off track, and millions have lost or are close to losing their homes. Many are so deep in trouble with debt that they have lost all hope and do not see light at the end of the tunnel. You may be in this place yourself. You may be dwelling on your mistakes, paralyzed from taking any action at all. The fact remains, we have all…

Last week on the 48days.com website the survey asked to rate what was most important factor for success. It made you choose between:
- Integrity
- Hard Work
- Social Skills
- Supportive Spouse
It was initially hard for me to pick one over the others. Geez, those are all vitally important. I know, as I've failed and succeeded with so many ideas.
But if I have to pick one above all others? And you've got to realize it didn't say you couldn't have the…

I did the same thing while I got my practice off the ground. It can be tough to prioritize and manage every aspect of the business while still leaving time for family, friends and other activities.
Are you struggling with this area? What are some of the ideas you've put in place to make sure you stay focused while still giving time in these other important areas?
Here are some of mine:
- My wife and I sat down and took a realistic look at what would be…

This topic gets me fired up. Every time I go and research something about network marketing I find adds $100,000, $500,000, 6 figure income, SIX FIGURE INCOME, etc. They are all then followed by a landing page that is trying to generate a lead. After landing on the page and completing the lead form someone will follow up with a phone call, at least they will if they are good.
On the landing page they content will focus on the simple business offering that anyone can do even if your…

Jeff had the vision of running a coaching practice to help people improve their spiritual and financial lives yet he realized it could take years to build up enough income to support his wife and children. He always vowed to make enough income so his wife could stay home. Knowing that his business would not meet the immediate needs of his family, he could have easily put his dreams on hold. He prayed that God would provide a way for him to…

So I don't know why but every time I try to upload a video to YouTube my internet crashes. This has been true for almost a year. I'm ready to get Clark Howard (Consumer Advocate) on it because I think its my internet provider. That being said. It has forced me to look for other video hosting providers. I was using Vimeo which I really liked but they decided that I couldn't use my account the way I was using it because it was related to business. So if you have personal video that you don't…
