Profile Information

How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?
I've been watching the "social network" phenomenon for several years. I thought there was a place for an "idea network" where we could share ideas and grow our businesses together. Something more than telling people you saw a celebrity or ate at Ben & Jerry's last night.
What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
I am an entrepreneur from the top of my head to the tip of my toes. Haven't had a "real job" since I was a kid.
And then...what is the goal/dream you are striving for regarding your work life?
I trust it doesn't come as a surprise that I am living my dream. I didn't get it all worked out at age 20 but at this point in my life I'm certainly living the life I dreamed about.

My primary work activities are writing, speaking and coaching.
How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?
I have three incredible children -- and 7 grandchildren. Joanne and I have been married for over 40 years and every day is a great day!
What would you say are your core competencies? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?
I love writing. I am a voracious reader so I am constantly getting new ideas that I want to pass on to people. There is a wealth of wisdom in past writings and I want to be effective in distilling that and then making applications for today.

Dan,

Why on earth would you spend so many years and so much money building and branding "48" and even consider modifying the podcast?

All you need is 4 segments that are about 12 minutes each, and voila...48 minutes.

Dan,
What do you think about using an IRA to fund a start-up?
This article makes a case for how to do it, and I'm sure that many of us have pondered this subject. Thanks for all you do!

Thanks Dan for the kind comments about my art. I have not logged in much on the site because I work my business on a very strict schedule striking that balance between work and family. I launched my freelance business Pilotte Creative Services officially this year (www.pilottecreativeservices.com). Your podcast, which I still listen to as often as I can, has really inspired me. When I was a kid I dreamed of being an artist and creating album covers for musicians. I have had a love of music in all its forms since before I was old enough to talk. Growing up studying the album cover art for so many famous rock bands inspired me to become an artist. Yesterday I sent my first album to the printer for production. I was contracted to do the entire design for a double album by an up and coming blues guitarist. Dan, I spent ten years working for Lockheed Martin Aerospace as a graphic artist. I have worked on art for projects that were worth (literally) billions of dollars. Nothing, and I mean this, nothing gave me the personal satisfaction and sense of fulfillment that I had in seeing this album project through. It was amazing. I know that with dedication and patience this business is going to take me, and my family, somewhere very good. So, thank you very much for your inspiration Dan. God Bless.

Hey I'll make this very quick. I'm getting lots of questions about really being able to get a book published in times like these.

Here's a 3-minute video clip of me
on Fox News explaining how I got started: Dan on Fox News. I think you'll be
