Let me back up, do you all think it's a good idea? Before I spend time on it, do you think it's marketable? I am googling how to determine that but do you all have something to recommend about how to find that out?

Comment by Billie Wells 8 hours ago

Thanks Erin and Jen, I will do that. I am working on it right now.

I have a question - I am using word right now. I know this has probably been covered, but if I first want to do an ebook in a pdf file to have it ready for Memorial day and stick it on facebook, my blog and ebay, would it be best to do it in word and save as a word doc and then a pdf file? Or is there a better way. I have lots of the information and pictures ready.

Billie, that's a great question/post for a discussion. I'd highly recommend Kindle and even making it available from your own site. It would be great if you could connect with the CoC/Visitors' centers to make it available through their sites as well.

Evelyn, best wishes on your Kickstarter project - exciting stuff!

Billie, no reason you can't offer it on Ebay as a ebook, but also offer it several other places such as Amazon Kindle and/or your own website. No need to put it one place or another - nice to know there are always options. Turning it into a self published book to sell in your area would be easily done as well.  I went through CreateSpace and published on Amazon. Bottom line, lots of options, lots of choices. No need to do just one if you are looking for ideas. CONGRATS!

Hey Everybody.  I always read the comments but I don't often post.  I'm coming down to the wire on something that I could use your help on.  I only have a couple days left on my Kickstarter launch.  I know, I know I should have let you know first thing.  But anything any of you can do to help I'd be ever so grateful.  http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1319775277/fused-glass-kiln-and... Thanks for all the inspiration you all give me every week!  and Kent, thanks for the video link.  I shared it with my boys, too.

I do photography, lots around my hometown, Asheville, NC and the amazing mountains in my area. A friend suggested I write an ebook about where and what to photograph in Asheville and the area. We get about 200,000 visitors in the city and a half million in the mountains surrounding. I can do this easily. I can write, but I was thinking to first put it on eBay for $4.99 in a pdf file. What do you all think?

Then do other forms which I know little about - like an app. I am probably a day away from finishing. Any advice would be appreciated and any samples of similar guides also!

I bought it, but haven't gotten to it yet, and all the hype has me, well... hyped!

On the same note, Ray Edwards is offering a discount on an upcoming 90 minute webinar on Kindle publishing.  If you don't subscribe to his newsletter, he's throwing out notifications now.  Webinar is on Thursday.

I love the APE book - I listened to a webinar a few weeks ago where Kawasaki talked about his process. Good stuff.

During some flights this weekend I had time to read A.P.E. by Guy Kawasaki and loved it. The book is very detailed, it could almost be a texted book. If you have or will self-publish, you should check it out. It literally covers everything from a highly successful traditional and self-published author.

I guest posted today over on Tracy Riva Books and Reviews about what's it like to write a memoir. Here's a link to it:
