Whether you published with a traditional house or are a self-published author, marketing is an ongoing process.
Creating a multifaceted marketing plan can include participating in contests, getting reviews, doing radio and TV interviews, selling in bulk, speaking to groups, attending book shows, and connecting with people through blogs and online forums. It can be…

Do you love the idea of travel?
Does the thought of taking a weekend or a week to focus on your writing seem like a dream?
When my business partner and I were planning our writers’ retreat in London, so many people commented, “I’d love to do that, but I can’t because….
“I can’t afford it.”
“I have to be home for family members.”
“I don’t have a…

If you had a free hour… or even a free day, what would you do with it? You may imagine that you’d read all the books and magazines that have been collecting dust in your home. Or maybe you’d rent the entire season of your favorite show from Netflix and watch nine episodes in a row. Or maybe…

Does that sentence need a comma?
How do I write a press release? A book proposal? A novel?
Is it complement or compliment? Continuous or continual?
I write something almost every day. And almost as frequently, questions like those listed above cause me to pause. Sometimes it takes only a second to…

Gregg Summers said… Thanks Erin! I am just getting started and trying to work out how I want to enter the world of writing. I have about 25% of a book written about my wife and me and our personal story but fell into doubt about how it was going or what should be said. I also would love to start a blog related to restaurants, food, etc. and wonder what would be the best steps to do that in a way that is impactful and done right the first time. Any suggestions would be welcome.
Thanks Erin for the warm welcome! I like your post How Do I Write That? It's packed with some great resources, thanks for sharing! Wishing you and everyone much continued success!
Chris Peek said… Hey Erin,
Today, I found a Write It Forward discussion from last year about finding work as a freelance writer, and I saw that, at the time, were interested in finding additional web writers. Is this still a need that you have? While I've been consistently writing for over a year, I'm looking to expand into the world of paid freelance work. I'd be glad to help you in any way that I can. Thanks for any direction you can provide.
Chris
Thanks for the welcome Erin. I look forward to getting more involved in this group and achieving our goals! ~Matt
Thanks Erin, I appreciate you looking at my blog and letting me know that it wasn't loading properly in Firefox.
Sincerely,

Eric W. Uphouse said… Thanks for the warm welcome... sorry it's taken so long to reply, but life has been CRAZY this month so far. Things should settle down soon and I'll have more time to get on the forums.

Dave Irwin said… Hi Casey, thanks for the welcome! BTW, I love your website! "Your Platform is Your Key to Publishing Success" was a great post (among many); it helped clarify a few things I'd been thinking about lately. Thanks again, and please keep up the great work.
Dave Anderson said… Thanks Erin,
I am interested in following the discussions on writing effectively for my website. It is not up yet but I am close.
