Profile Information

How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?
Originally on Dave Ramsey's radio program (a number of years ago). I've since read several of Dan Miller's books and listened to the 48 Days podcast. Dan's concepts have influenced the direction of my work over the years, and I'm now wanting to step out and try some ideas that have been in my mind for a long while - and now the time is right.
What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
I have run my commercial space planning, facilities coordination, and design practice for about 10 years now. My primary clients are Healthcare Facilities (hospitals, clinics, etc.); Churches and Christian student organizations (remodel, update, renovate... being good stewards of resources available - human resources as well as financial); and Property Managers (I provide tenant development support).
And then...what is your goal/dream for your work life?
I've had some wonderful opportunities in just the past few years which have really focused my attention on the parts of my work that I love. I have ideas on how to do more of this, and less of what I don't love so much - and I'm ready to proceed.
How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?
I'm looking for a new place to serve (after a different opportunity finally 'wound down'), and have re-connected with a wonderful organization I worked with many years ago. Am praying that this is where I'm supposed to be, or that the right doors will open and I'm alert enough to notice.
What would you say are your strongest talents? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?
One of my core strengths is the ability to make sense out of chaos - whether facilities space planning, coordinating existing conditions with new requirements, or balancing conflicting program goals and needs. I'm an encourager and an optimist... and I generally see existing conditions and 'problems' as mere challenges that keep life and work interesting.

Are you interested in finding a better job, starting a business, growing your current business, writing a book, blogging, podcasting, coaching, speaking, sales & marketing, or something else?
Growing my business; expanding into new areas; possibly writing a book (nothing grand - but I have some ideas). Possibly even coaching... I need to explore that.
If you have a product or service to promote (now or in the near future) this is your shot to state it! Say all you'd like:
A Registered Designer and LEED AP experienced in serving businesses and design professionals. I have served on well over a million square feet of commercial renovation and new construction projects - from programming, design development, construction drawings, through build-out. It is my great pleasure to continue serving many of these clients through ongoing facilities coordination and support. I bring experience and 'common sense'; I'm deeply aware of the relationship between design and build-out cost (initial construction as well as life cycle). A successful project, completed on time and on budget, is my greatest professional satisfaction - and that's why my clients return. I love a challenge and always enjoy discussing new possibilities, so please contact me with any questions!

Welcome Jamie!

Glad to see you on 48 Days. This is a great community with a ton of helpful people.

Hi Jamie,

I try to take time each week to welcome new members to 48Days.Net. So, let me say "welcome" to you! I know you will find this to be a great site filled with people who are experiencing true success in both life and work.

One thing I noticed on your profile is you are an encourager and an optimist. Both are great qualities!

Also, I'd like to point out that one of the best places to connect with other liked-minded people here is in the GROUPS section. There are groups for just about every interest you can imagine. What's more, if you can't find a group that interests you, you can start one. Groups are my favorite part of 48Days.Net!

Finally, if you happen to be a speaker or author (or want to become either), check out these two groups. They are two of the most popular groups on the site because of all the great conversation taking place:

* Speak It Forward -- REAL Success and Profit for Speakers!
* Write It Forward -- REAL Success and Profit for Writers!

Enjoy 48Days.Net. It's a great place to be!

Live it forward,
Kent Julian

Brian, I have a time conflict with the mastermind group, but would still like to learn more. Sending you an email...
Per your question, as one component of my work I assist Building Managers in 'wooing' new tenants by meeting with them and evaluating their current facilities, and doing proof-of-concept test-fit drawings (to visually demonstrate that the new space will fulfill their program needs... I'm good at making the new space very appealing!). After my client has landed the lease agreement, I often help develop the drawings further into a complete space plan or construction drawing (when the scope does not require an Architect), and act as a liaison with an Architect when it is needed. One of my larger clients manages a 2 million square foot property.
