Hi Bob,

Thanks for adding me as a friend. I have been an observer for about a year, contributing only occasionally. I am pretty busy with my job, recurrent illness and speaking or as a Board member for nonprofits. So, I hope to get more involved, but I might drop off the face of the earth again.

Prosperity and peace to you all ways,

Darlene Pawlik

1) Tell us about a challenge you faced with your business and how you overcame it. Looking back I see that my biggest challenge was 'me.' I continued to stubble over myself – spinning my wheels. I knew I had something to offer, bur didn't know how to deliver my passion and create a business. It always comes down to building a sustainable business.
2) What is one of the best rewards of owning your own business? One of the best rewards of owning my own business is I am the 'boss.' I learned a long time ago I am not a follower, I am a leader. And I get a great reward when I am able to help others achieve their dreams.
3) Was the decision to start your own business easy or hard? Why? Starting my own business was difficult. In my twenties, after divorcing at the age of 26, I wanted to have my own business. I would watch info-mercials and see the wondrous of entrepreneurism. My family situation did not allow me the opportunity at that time. Fast forward many years later, I was still interested in business ownership, but what would that be? My family had a restaurant, friends had retails stores, but nothing appealed to me. In 2006, after being the CEO for Girl Scouts, and losing the the most heartfelt position, I realized it was time. The loss of this position was not broke my heart, but was a gift that lifted me up and allowed me to explore my options.
4) Tell us about one sacrifice you made to help your business succeed. Sacrifices were not only made by me, but also my family. For example, dinner time resorted to peanut butter & jelly sandwiches, grilled cheese, and many of our dinner clubs ended. Not because of the business, we sold our home with the intention of purchasing a new home. At that time my husband was transferred to California. We decided to sacrifice everything, take the home sale proceeds and invest into the business. I no longer had my foot in the water, I was all in… My motto each day, I can't afford to quit.
5) What excites you about your business? I am most excited when I am able to help other realize in a short time their passion. My new offerings is a certification and licensee of my programs. I have taken all my professional, personal, and education and created a certification and licensee program. We are here for a reason, for me it if helping others.
My business continues to evolve. I began wanting to be an inspiration to women and share my story of overcoming my struggles from rape, abuse, neglect, adoption, and learning how to trust people. Then I went back to my roots of coaching nonprofit organizations. Today, is the season of my life. I provide webinars of how to raise sponsorship dollars for your property, Speak across the country and podcast with a focus on helping Baby Boomers find their Paradise.
Building a business takes time. My best advice is to stay true to your compass. When you lay the foundation everything else flows together.
