Jonathan's Blogging Journey

I first heard of blogging in the Summer of 2008. I was really fascinated by the idea and concept. It was about the same time that I began a personal mission to discover my true purpose in life. I had spent the previous five years building a start-up executive search firm with a few close friends. Although I was enjoying the journey, I really wanted to find my "fit" in the world... Excellent discussion here. Also, Derrick if it is helpful, I published a book in 2015 on blogging that's been well-received thus far. It is called The 15 Success Traits of Pro Bloggers: A Proven Roadmap for Becomin.... Hope it helps!

Thanks Marcy it makes total sense and I will use this advise.  Holly I read platform and liked it, I also checked out dales page and will order his book.  Thank you

Derrick, I think the book Platform by Michael Hyatt is an amazing resource. It's a great instruction manual for starting a blog. I also really like Dale Partridge's blog. His advice is more authentic than many of the other How to Blog bloggers. You'll figure out what works best for you once you start. Hope that helps.

@Derrick Lopez, I think doing a mix of writing and video works best. I try to keep my posts from 500-600 words (my reading preference). I would post once a week 500 word article and then do a combination of 3 short posts ( a 1 min video, a quote, or an informational article you link to written by someone else) for the rest of the week. So 4x a week, but short hits on a topic. Does that make sense?

Hello everyone,

I am planing to start my blog and I am looking for a resource to help me with the start.  I am wondering if I am better doing video or writing, as I am comfortable with either.  I also would like to know how to plan out my postings, how long they should be, and how often should I release.  Any advise would be great

Hi Jonathan, guys! Sorry I did not figure out how to start a discussion so I write my question here. I wanted to purchase Getnoticedtheme by Michael Hyatt and build my blog on that platform. I really liked it. But I had doubts since my blog will be in Russian, will I be able to translate all the buttons and menu headlines? My cousin who is web programmer said that now almost all platforms should have UTF-8 encoding (dont know if I wrote it right), and I should be able to translate easily and there won't be any jiberish instead of words. Can someone in this group please help me with this?

Another question is where can I get nice wordpress themes, sort of exclusive ones and those that require minimum efforts - or i should say from minimum people, like designers and webprogrammers. I want to do everything myself, with little help from my cousin web-programmer... but most of the work I am ready to do myself.

Will appreciate your answers!

That's great Michael I'm glad you are starting a website and a blog to get your story out there. I think that is an important first step and the book ideas very awesome as well.

Keep up the good work and we look forward to your progress reports!

Hi Everyone!

My name is Michael Elliott. I am 31 years old, have been married for 11 years, and have 3 kids. I recently joined 48 days and I am excited to get more active in the community. I have over 10 years of experience in sales, marketing, customer service, and account management.

My life, like everyone else, has been roller coaster of ups and downs. Over a year ago, I went through a devastating series of events, ultimately resulting in a full nervous breakdown and being hospitalized. By the grace of God and the support of my amazing friends and family, I have done a complete 180 and have a successful career. Unfortunately, I hate my job.

My heart's desire is to take my background and personal journey (the ups, downs, highs, and lows) to help (coach) others through the tough times, discover their passion, and live a life of fulfillment and purpose. I have seen several different doctors and counselors and have been diagnosed with ADHD, which brings on symptoms like anxiety and depresssion if not treated. I believe that God has brought me through all of this so that I can understand and relate to others in similar situations, offering them coaching, support, and encouragement.

I am currently starting a blog/website where I will begin sharing my story. I have also started writing a book, but that is definitely a long term project.

I just signed up to this group. I have been away from 48 days for some time. I will, next few days update the profile. It is very very old. I am retired and on a small SS amount. In my area of the country I have been passionately involved in a ministry that give people an opportunity to see the heart of God. This ministry has given me word that I want to express to others. This group looks like an opportunity to express those ideas and earn income to boot. I hope to hear from some of you.
