My apologies to the group - it looks like I should have been making my edits through my ipage file manager rather than through the WordPress dashboard. That's why I wasn't finding what I was looking for. Please excuse :)

I set up a site on WordPress a couple of months ago - adapting one of their templates with code I'd created in Dreamweaver. Have been away from it for a few weeks and it looks like everything has changed. The theme I used has been replaced by another one. My online preview is still viewable, but I don't seem to be able to access any of the code. Looks like they are charging now for the ability to change code - and only allowing CSS changes, not html. I'm using Ipage for hosting. Wondering if I should try to continue with WordPress or maybe change to Joomla, which I use at work. Any thoughts?

Sheri,

Welcome to the group. Wordpress.com is simple and easy but I LOVE Wordpress.org (aka as a self hosted installation) for its flexibility and customization options. The good thing is that you can easily import all your blog posts into Wordpress.org when you decide to move.

Let me know how I can help.

Hi. I use Wordpress.com & am doing OK with it, in spite of the limitations. It's easy & got me started quickly, which was a blessing! I've learned to tweak it pretty well to do what I want it to do.

I do hope to move to Wordpress.org later when I have time for another education. :) What do you work in?

Tamara,

I cover it in detail in all my training video series as it it a bit advanced. But, basically you give an icon or photo a link to a website so when they click the icon, they are taken to a website.

I hope that helps,

Jeff Long

Hi, the little icon that you place on a site that directs viewers to your site. It's a little icon that has your website name, and when someone clicks it, it take them directly to your website.

Tamara,

What do you mean by "button"? I'm not really sure what you're referring to.
