Comment by LouAnn Clark 4 hours ago Jenny, Call me about Toastmasters! I am traveling Wednesday through Saturday but will be available after that. I have lots of material, books, CDs, and videos about professional speaking. Also, I am going to Kent Julian's Speak It Forward in October if you'd like to carpool. :) Hope to hear from you soon.
Hi Jenny, long story short, my speaking story was similar to yours. There are a few books I would recommend reading including Judy Carter's book, The Message of You and a book called Made to Stick. Toastmasters is a great place to start for people like me who start off as a deer in the headlight type speaker. I would also HIGHLY encourage you to check out Kent Julian's Speak It Forward bootcamp that is coming up in October in Atlanta. I have been to it twice and will most likely be going back again. Life changing stuff for me on getting my speaking business going. If you do end up going, I would be totally appreciative if you would consider using my affiliate link by clicking HERE. I too feel like God placed it in my heart to speak although at times I think WHY ME! ha ha ha. Best wishes!
YES, you can do. Way to focus in Stephanie!!
Comment by Kathy 7 hours ago Stephanie,
I think getting clarity is truly the most difficult part. Sounds like you are letting God have a hand in what He wants you to do and for whom He wants you to do it and it's workign. Good Luck!
Comment by Marianne Clements 7 hours ago Stephanie,
Good for you. I pray for wisdom and direction for you as you continue to take steps of faith.
Have a Victorious Day!

Comment by Stephanie OBrien 10 hours ago I am finally getting more and more clear on the group of people I will serve in my coaching business. With tons of prayer, faith, and action I am learning what works, what doesn't, and where to go next! It's taking a great deal of patience but with God's help I know I can do it!
Comment by Lynne Watts 19 hours ago Debra--great advice. Especially the getting up early and I love the appointment idea!
Comment by Debra Crabtree on Sunday Shelly,
I highly encourage you in your approach to your art! What I hear you saying is that you want your art to speak. I will share this with you, I once read, Art has the ability to by pass the mind and pierce the heart in a way nothing else can.
Yes I work full time and yes it does make it challenging. I also Have a teenage daughter still at home so I have had to work hard to carve out time to do what most desire. I am finding that after I get home I have very little energy and though I tried to push through anyway I wasn't having much success. I am now getting up earlier and using that time. My goal is for it to become full time, but I am not there yet. I heard a suggestion from Michael Hyatt the other day. He said to make appointments for your self and if any one asks you are already committed, no explanations needed. I am learning the turtle principle, a little each day adds up to a lot.
I bless and encourage you in all that you want to do,
Debra
Hello ladies - I am in need of advice. First, what is the best way to take all the information that you gather and be able to put in into a format as a speaker. Second, the only speaking experience I have is through my work and as a facilitator for Financial Peace. How does one go about seeking out speaking opportunities? I am an introverted nerd with a high I and close S personality, so speaking is a challenge. I know God does not put on our hearts what he has not equipped us to do. Any advice would be much appreciated.
