- How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?
- My husband attended your training last week in Nashville. I have been listening to you ever since he got back since I am interested in starting my own debt counseling business. Thank you for all that you do to help others!
- What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
- I am employed through our local school system. I have been a teacher for almost (9) years. Some of that was spent working part-time when my second son was born.
- And then...what is your goal/dream for your work life?
- I have realized this past year that God has been speaking to me about doing more. My husband and I have taught Financial Peace University for the last four years at our church and I LOVE talking about budgets and saving money. I realized that this is my passion. I am always sad when we have to stop FPU, but there's no way we could do it all year while working two full-time jobs. We don't charge anything for the class, but that doesn't even matter to me. I just enjoy seeing people who came in hopeless leave with a smile on their face ready to conquer their debt. We have impacted a lot of people and every year our number of attendees grows more and more. I have asked Greg about even teaching in the fall, but know that this can't be done or we would be completely exhausted and never see our children. Last year I sat down with two ladies and their homes and went through their budget. It was awesome! My goal is to have my business "The Fearless Heart" up and running this year so that I can start helping people save money and pay off debt.
- How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?
- I want to be happier. I come home from my work just exhausted and mentally drained. I may feel this same way as a counselor, but I am already a counselor. I feel like I do more counseling at my school than teaching. There are some days when I feel like I can't teach at all. There's just so much red tape that it just doesn't feel worth it anymore. I have been in this kind of "funk" when I come home from work. There are times when I feel like I don't want to discipline or even speak to my children because I have seen 150+ in one day. My kids don't deserve this kind of treatment. I have also started on blood pressure medication and I know it's from the stress of my job. I just want to be happy! I want to feel like I am making a difference and I would like a more flexible schedule. I want to go eat lunch with my kid during the day if I want to.
- What would you say are your strongest talents? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?
- I love to motivate! I love teaching! I love helping people find the hope in a hopeless situation. I have always been this way. I used to assign one of my classmates homework back in Kindergarten. I have always had the mind of a teacher. Now I'm ready to teach what I would like to teach and do it the way I want to. I am ready to see lives changed!
