- How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?
- I listen regularly to the 48 Days podcast, after having originally discovered Dan through Dave Ramsey. I am building my own coaching business called Harmony Insights (www.harmonyinsights.com), and I am eager to interact with others who find themselves at different stages of their own unique pursuits.
- What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
- I recently resigned from a 15-year corporate human resources position to focus full time on work that I love. Harmony Insights provides me the opportunity to speak to organizations and individuals as close as Chicago and as far away as Geneva, Switzerland, on the benefits of enhanced communication skills and team building using the DiSC model of behavior as an indispensable resource and common language.
- And then...what is your goal/dream for your work life?
- I am open to new work models, fresh opportunities, and worthwhile challenges that invite me outside of a comfort zone that has grown less comfortable in recent years. Steps that I have already taken have somewhat unbelievably landed me Switzerland and earned me November 2012 recognition from Dan in his newsletter, on his podcast, and on 48Days.net as Member of the Week!
- How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?
- Maintaining a strong balance between personal and professional pursuits is of particular significance to me. I feel strongly that one's passions in life, although they may not necessarily always be work-related, can fuel satisfaction and creativity in the work that one ultimately pursues. Music is a great passion of mine, and my membership in various Chicago-area choral ensembles enhances nearly everything else I seek to accomplish.
- What would you say are your strongest talents? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?
- 15+ years in human resources have reinforced that I enjoy discovering why people do what they do. I appreciate opportunities to open other people's eyes to these same insights, allowing them to look at life and their own behaviors in ways they hadn't previously. I don't believe that I'm "wired" as an entrepreneur, but that wasn't going to stop me from identifying my passion and discovering where it might take me. I never expected the answer to be Geneva, Switzerland. Ask me about that story. I love to tell people about it!
