A Short Reflection on the Loss of 3,980 Words. May They Rest in Peace.

Earlier this week, I lost about 4,000 words from an e-book I'd been penning when my backup drive unexpectedly failed and couldn't be recovered. Well, the bad news is, I had to rewrite a manuscript. The good news is, I got to rewrite a manuscript.I'm sure you've had it happen, too. Whatever it is, when something you've worked tirelessly on gets unexpectedly trashed, your heart seems to go with it. I used to freak out about this sort of thing, sometimes deleting what was left intact for how bad…See More

Profile Information

How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?
Colleagues recommended I start listening to Dan when I began seeking new ways to market some of my self-published comic books. I've been hooked, since!
What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
Freelance illustrator, designer, developer and Proprietor of Gloryhound Network, a collection of web comics created and produced by myself and a few others. Through Gloryhound, I head up a small game design studio with friends called EVOLV Games. I'm also working on a new site called DontGoToArtSchool.com, offering tutorials to art students of all ages!
And then...what is your goal/dream for your work life?
In 2012 I began counseling young artists looking to get into making their own comic books and other creative ideas. I have been dismayed by the lack of real-world skills art school graduates have been leaving school with, and would like to help by offering a series of free and premium-affordable tutorials on the things not taught in today's art colleges.
How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?
My husband and I live a great life, are nearly debt-free, and looking to bring in more money with our side projects so we can afford a home with a little more space. My husband is a musician, and we'd like to set up a bigger studio for the both of us so we can better pursue the things we love.
What would you say are your strongest talents? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?
The title I think most fits me, is "storyteller". So here goes: My grandfather built a huge swimming hole and camp ground in rural Pennsylvania, and my father worked there as a boy. Dad told me of the day the 1972 flood came, washed everything away (millions of dollars worth of equipment, gone in a flash!) and how, on the day it was safe to return to the property, my grandfather said only, "Well. Let's get to work." They cleaned it up and started again. I LOVE the human spirit and believe it is through a little faith and our own creativity, we can achieve anything. It has become my message to the world, and I'd love to share it with you.
Do you have a website presence anywhere?

Are you interested in finding a better job, starting a business, growing your current business, writing a book, blogging, podcasting, coaching, speaking, sales & marketing, or something else?
All of the above! I already do a little of each at http://www.gloryhound.net
If you have a product or service to promote (now or in the near future) this is your shot to state it! Say all you'd like:

You Can't See it Yet!

Well, my home town was on the news this week.

Most of you probably caught the story of the NORAD blimp that went AWOL. It happened to land right in my back yard, and this being the biggest deal my little town has had since the war (that'd be the Civil War, mind you), everyone here wanted to get in on it by visiting the crash site.

Predictably, when both of us went down there (har-har) we were immediately told to go back home. "Nothing to see here," the nice officer…

Dawn,

Thanks for the invite. I read your posts often, but have not commented much.(Per Dan, trying to change that:) You seem to have a unique perspective on things that I really enjoy. Do you have a website or something where you show your work? I would love to see it.

If I am not mistaken you created a cool crowd funding opp with a great video attached..for an anime series? If so that is a tough "sell" yet you know better than I a "fan" cannot be deterred! And how encouraging that can be. Thanks for the note.
