At our latest 48 Days Live Event - Innovate, we had the wonderful Bob Baker speak on "The Empowered Artist" - one of the things he talked about is how we are afraid to simply ask. We so often keep our heads down and try to "go it alone" and there are so, so many resources and talented people here on 48Days.net. I would love to start building more of a community where, when someone has a need, another can easily step up to help.
Places like Facebook and www.NextDoor.com are huge for referrals - you ask your friends if they know of a good lawncare guy, and you get a bunch of resources from people you trust.
Here we are, a community of entrepreneurs, with so many amazing resources at our fingertips.
We have seen businesses built based on referrals through this site, freelancers get all kinds of business, and friends helping friends out with free feedback, insights, and affirmation.
If we see more activity in this light, we can look at offering more by way of resource/referral connections - so, if you have a need, please post it in this discussion. List what you can offer people, or what you need most - let's remember what this is about - community and resources - and let's help each other out!

Ashley - thanks for taking the lead on this. We've got some cool things in the works for 48Days.net. We're upgrading to a new version that's going to make it mobile friendly (one of the big things we heard at Innovate) and give us some new looks and features.
We know people come here for content - but then stay because of developing relationships.
I'd like to see us continue to grow our resource page - http://www.48days.com/useful-resources/ - as a ready source for some of the questions that show up here.

I'd love to offer some of my resources for DISC training. My most often requested is the DISC Quick Recognition file. I've uploaded it here. The other one, which I prepared specifically for 48Days is How to use the DISC profiles to create income, also attached here.
What a great idea!
Jill,
Thanks so much for those two PDFs! I downloaded them and looked them over and can see that they will be extremely helpful. For the moment my main focus must remain on writing my ebook, but I'll be studying them on the side and expect to benefit greatly from them. Again, thank you very much.
Blessings to you,
Bob Carpenter

Thanks so much, Jill - these are great!! I love the quick recognition, and the marketing one is excellent, especially where you break down exactly what you did so people have a realistic summary of what they can do.
Jill is our go-to resource at 48 Days for people who want to do DISC workshops and/or present DISC - her "DISC Deep Dive" is fabulous, and like our CWE events, every Deep Dive is a little different since you get a different group - so going through it more than once is still as powerful as you learn more and more about DISC. She has specials for 48 Days as well, so if you are considering speaking on or leading workshops on DISC, 48 Days endorses Jill in this!
Ashley, it was unbelievable how much you folks encouraged me and increased my hope for success late in life at Innovate.
I got so much knowledge, so many leads and encouraging information that my head is still spinning, but I have managed to get started on an Ebook, scheduled to be finished, but still rough, by the end of next week. I would like to ask for feedback on my plan.
My title, at the moment is 7 Simple Steps to Make $700 in 30 Days...and every month after. My approach is to keep it believable...to have a title that tells the story and that seems achievable to an "average" worker. I fully believe that the content, much of which I've learned from Dan and others at Innovate will significantly over deliver on that promise.
For marketing, I plan to approach my fellow students from Innovate and of course our speakers for reviews and affiliate marketing, as well as approach churches in my area to offer free presentations of the idea to their congregations. I will also seek interviews on related podcasts, all to build pre-launch buzz, then launch it. I would also like to do a summer vacation workshop, for free, for high school juniors and seniors as an outreach to the local community.
After it is launched, I will likely expand it into a 3 ring binder product, with audio and create an online workshop to walk people through the process. I plan to take Terry Hadaway's course to prepare for that.
I will also mention and pitch the DISC profile in the book, and get set up to market that as well. I'll be checking out Jill Davis' link in the comments below. I bought the DISC profile from Dan and was very impressed with the results.
Any guidance/feedback anyone can offer on this plan will be greatly appreciated.
Oh, yes, would you be willing to work with me so that I can feature Clara's book in the ebook as an example of if a child can do this, surely my adult audience can?

Bob - I love your idea here. And incidentally, thank you so much for all the individual hand-written cards you sent to us after Innovate - including to Clara. That was really special to all of us.
What income generating ideas will you be including in 7 Simple Steps to Make $700 in 30 Days? You've got a great marketing plan for getting your book out there but what actual money making ideas will you be sharing with your readers?
Thanks so much for your reply, Dan.
The plan that I am offering is for the reader to do just as I am doing with the Ebook because it is so simple and everyone has valuable information or insights to share. Even a school kid could write a children's book.
The 7 steps are: 1) Evaluate your outlook & change if necessary (from money focus to people focus); 2) Identify yourself - Do you remember who you were before the world taught you who you should be?, DISC profile offer; 3) Imagine and believe in yourself helping others with your unique skill/understanding; 4) Commit and put in 10 hours a week; 5) Create and offer high value information that gives hope to your reader; 6) Market your Ebook (as I described previously); 7) Fulfill orders - guidance on tools that are available.
As soon as I have something to show him, I plan to contact Pat Flynn and ask to work with him on including his Ebooks The Smart Way as a bonus/supporting document to give my readers guidance on how to actually write their book. Since he gives his ebook away, I think he'll be interested.
I read his book on your advice and am very glad I did, and I was very happy to meet Pat.

Bob,
Yes, THANK YOU for the sweet cards, comments and notes - we were so glad you could come and got so much out of it, and Clara is thrilled to have such a big fan! You are definitely welcome to reference her in your book - and you can send people to her website: www.ClaraLogsdon.com
You are definitely laying out a full gameplan - make sure that each chapter gives people very simple and concrete action steps beyond just the power of positive thinking. Part of the thrill of the 48Days book is the actual schedule, where each day is an action step and a baby step toward the ultimate goal. You can easily do this in your eBook - you already have a bit of it here - so just make sure that you ask yourself that in each chapter - what action can the reader implement based on what is written here that will make my promise to the reader happen?
Eager to see how this develops - and this community is a great place to get feedback!!
Thank you for those kind words, Ashley. They mean a lot.
I am definitely a big fan of Clara's and I do plan to mention her, with a picture of her book cover.
After she and Joanne finished their presentation at Innovate, my jaw dropped and I said "What? a nine year old can do this and I find it difficult." She is a remarkable and very personable young lady.
Thanks also for the direct tip on the action steps. I can't say that I knew if that was part of my plan, or not, but now it definitely is. I am going through Dan's 48 Days book now also. I had started a copy I bought on the internet before I came to Innovate, but Dan showed me the 10th Anniversary edition, with all the newest content, so I bought it there and started again. I love it!

I always try to include action steps in my weekly newsletter, which you subscribe to. If you are interested in additional examples I'd be happy to forward older editions.
To Ashely's point, the 48 Days schedule is great because it breaks it down into actionable BABY steps. Change can be very overwhelming, so focusing on small steps is key.
Good Luck! :)
Agreed, Holly. I was not oblivious to including action steps; I just didn't include every detail in my question above. I would, however, welcome any samples you may wish to share. I definitely have a lot to learn, and appreciate all the help I can get.
Anytime you think I can help you, be sure to ask.
Let's make the tide rise, and raise all ships!
Permalink Reply by Holly Scherer on June 12, 2016 at 8:27am I'll send them right over Bob to help get the juices flowing.
You know what I would love to see you write about? Surviving cancer for 20 years. Now, my husband and I are weird health nut people, so I could be off base, but I think there's a niche of people who would LOVE this. When I look at your site, that's what I'm looking for. I want to know what you're doing, what you're eating, etc. Again, crazy health nut opinion, so take it with a grain of salt. You know what's right for you.
