In the post from two weeks ago, I talked about how I had to let go of some things in my life and change other things around in order to accomplish what I needed to now that I am a mother with a small infant. And as much as I’d like to get everything completed, it’s just not possible. New responsibilities and desires will always come up in life, no matter what season you are in, and with that, less available time for each task. So in order to live life fully and completely without overwhelm, eventually something will have to go. There just isn’t time for everything.
So where to start? When I was figuring this out on my own during the two months I took away from the blog, I started (as I start most things) with a list. I sat down and listed all the things I was responsible for that would require my time and attention – such as household chores (too many to list individually), keeping abreast of new developments in my career field so I could stay sharp at work, time at work, time needed to nurture my relationship with my husband/friends/family, time to spend raising and enjoying my new son, and time to spend on things that I personally enjoy (such as blogging, exercise, yoga, reading, nature, etc), and finally time needed to sleep. Comment by Ann Musico on Wednesday Very smart Lesley. Especially in your particular stage of life, taking the time to figure out what is most important and what you can let go of, even temporarily, is just very smart. It will definitely pay you huge dividends in peace and productivity!
