The hole is currently 1 1/2" I have drilled out a couple to a whole 2" so I can fit hay cubes. They LOVE it--my hay guys accuse me of puttin "crack" in the Nose-It!s. My ideal future design either has a 3-4 inch cover/locking cap, or atleast an entire 2 inch hole with that side being concave to make the "filling procecess" faster. Believe it or not, I left my barn/garage door open and the horses completly bypassed the bags of feed and went straight for the near empty Nose-It!s Next thing I knew, I had nearly a dozen horses and Nose-It!s all around my front yard, but didn't have to worry about cleaning up the bags of feed (still hard to believe they left them alone).
I love your Paddock Paradise website. I really like your hay cube feeder--I sure wish my horses weren't so rough on things. I would be honored if you would allow me to post some pics and videos of my babies playing with their Nose-It!s. Unlike the bucket with the lid you created--these have been tested for over a year in direct sun in the middle of summer and below freezing temperatures. I even drove over one with my dump truck and all it did was indent it. We've had customers find their horses "giving CPR" to their Nose-It!. The mare was standing on it trying to "pump" the treats out since she got nested in too much hay to make it roll.
I put complete feed wafers and hay cubes in mine to slow them down --my barn and fencing appreciate the Nose-It!s too. They'd rather chew on the Nose-It!s than the fences and barns
Thank you for your service for horse owners! I was thinking about that corner hay feeder--how about using that black or orange plastic mesh that is used as construction fence/snow fence? It wouldn't give as much. Although mine are all barefoot...I'm worried about them pulling shoes while pawing...might just have to keep verticle boards, hmmm...
