Would really love for anyone who has time to take a look at my e-commerce site www.flynnjewelry.com and give me an overview of what they think I can do to make it a better experience. I know that sometimes while working in the bubble of a business it is easier for those on the outside looking in to see the flaws rather than the people involved in the daily operations.

Any comments are considered and appreciated.

I would like to thank you for taking the time to look at my site and submit feedback. If you would like to make a purchase I will be glad to send you a discount code.

Thanks, Keith Flynn

keith,

I really like your site. It is aesthetically pleasing, and gets right to the point. I found what I believe is an error on your FAQ page. You give a little bio and you say

I am a personal jewelry who helps my client

I believe you meant to say personal Jeweler. Other than that the site looks great. I hope you are getting a lot of traffic and making lots of sales.

It is cool that you guys work with charities involving CHD. Is this something that has personally affected your life?

Let me know if you want to chat some more

Great catch Allan, thanks. Yes, I was born with a CHD and want to help families who have children who have a member with CHD.

I think if you shared more about that it would make it more meaningful as to why you are supporting that cause. Story telling is going to be a big part of what you do. I can get jewelry anywhere, but I would love to buy into your story! That is what will set you apart, much like Pete suggests below!

-Allan

Thanks, that is personally hard for me to do but I agree with your statement. Maybe this will push me to do just that. Because I really want this business to succeed. Thank you.

Hi Keith, I agree with Allan, I think the site is very pleasing.

If I were to make one suggestion, it would be about the Blog. It seems like the entries are mostly sales-geared and you may want to consider some more education or story-telling.

That would help people to become an educated consumer and builds more trust with the potential customer. Learning the difference between silver and white gold...10K vs 14K v 24K...gemstones or maybe a birthstone feature each month...

Or with storytelling, I liked in the About Us that you said you could find special pieces, hard to find items...I'd love to read a story about one of those situations...or maybe there are recurring stories about the life of a certain piece of jewelry or how something has been emotionally purchased and gifted.

It's just a thought, but all in all, I like the site. I hope the very best for you and your family!!!

Pete

Excellent advice Pete, thanks so much! I sometimes struggle with what I should put in the blog, you have given me several good ideas.

Best wishes to you and yours as well.

Keith

Excellent suggestions Pete!!

Keith

I agree that the site is pleasing. One note I thought about would be promoting the "Jewelry with heart" more prominently on the Home page. Have it right at the top. Then right below, smaller print, and linked to your page about the charity, have a question that intrigues like "why the heart?!?!?"

But I do like the site...good work!

Thanks John, that is a great feedback. I like that, Why the heart? question.

Keith - looks like you're off to a great start with shopify! are you enjoying using that platform?

Before giving feedback, I have a couple questions. What is the main goal of your site? Who is your target market? What have you already done there to reach them? What do your sales (generally speaking) look like currently? What are your stats/analytics telling you?

It's easier to give thoughts and feedback if we know what your goals are and where you're at now. Looking nice is great, but it really doesn't mean that much if it's not focused on what goal or objective you're trying to accomplish.

edited to add - if you're not already a part, we'd love to have you over in the My Website Workshop Group. We've got a LOT of great web-focused people over there: designers, developers, writers, etc.

I also wrote a post a little while back that covers some areas where you can focus to work on growing/improving your site.

Thanks for the feedback Rob. Will need to get back to you over the holiday as your reply will need to be more detailed.

Okay Rob, here goes.

Yes, pretty happy with Shopify but really wish the SEO was a bit better concerning the blog. For instance, I wrote a blog on the Shopify site, a few days later, I copied and pasted the test of that blog in my personal wordpress website. A week later, I searched for "flynn jewelry" and my personal site was on the first page and the Shopify store was back a few pages. I have now been working with a friend to increase the sites visibility, those efforts, even though only about two weeks in the works are working pretty well. I went from 0 hits per day to about 12.

The target market is ladies between the ages of 25 to 85. I would say the majority of physical sales come from ladies over 35 and this year I started selling fine jewelry and the majority of my sales have been from engagement and wedding rings. This brings in a new demographic of single men looking to get hitched and higher price point products. :)

I promote in person, so most of the visitors up until last month were customers who know and I have built trust however, my ultimate goal of the site is to have the trust of a customer who finds the site on the web and feels comfortable hitting the add to cart button and completing the sale then returning for another sale later.

As far as sales, when I am beating the pavement and attending shows and talking it up, they are there. If not, I will get calls from customers and they will give me their orders over the phone or we will meet in person for the transaction. I have really set up a superior customer service element and will meet customers at their office, home, or where ever they feel comfortable. Since I do not have a storefront, this has made an impression on some customers and turned the majority of my customers into repeat customers.

Thanks for your time and interest and let me know if you would like further info.
