48Days.NET

At our latest 48 Days Live Event - Innovate, we had the wonderful Bob Baker speak on "The Empowered Artist" - one of the things he talked about is how we are afraid to simply ask. We so often keep our heads down and try to "go it alone" and there are so, so many resources and talented people here on 48Days.net. I would love to start building more of a community where, when someone has a need, another can easily step up to help.

Places like Facebook and www.NextDoor.com are huge for referrals - you ask your friends if they know of a good lawncare guy, and you get a bunch of resources from people you trust.

Here we are, a community of entrepreneurs, with so many amazing resources at our fingertips.

We have seen businesses built based on referrals through this site, freelancers get all kinds of business, and friends helping friends out with free feedback, insights, and affirmation.

If we see more activity in this light, we can look at offering more by way of resource/referral connections - so, if you have a need, please post it in this discussion. List what you can offer people, or what you need most - let's remember what this is about - community and resources - and let's help each other out!

HELP! I need some help understanding the DISC profile.

I have done the profile on myself and am somewhat familiar with what the results look like, and that they are not difficult to understand. What I don't understand at all is how I can sell it to a person, or a group and for both of us to have the results to discuss, if we are not co-located and looking at the same computer.

Also, I don't know how to have them buy it and get a commission for the sale. Do I just send them to 48 days? Do I give them a code? Do I buy it and then mark it up?

I will appreciate any help that can help me get clear on the process. (I am a C and need to know what I'm doing before I jump in, so I know I can over deliver on my promises.)

Bob, I'm happy to help you out here. This is what I send people as a general overview:

Our DISC profiles are our best-selling item at www.48Days.com, since you can get Dan's books from other locations as well. Our 48 Days Personality Profiles are customized to pull the best of a variety of DISC resources, and instead of re-inventing the wheel, we went to the profile experts and work directly with PeopleKeys to bring you an incredible resource for your clients/staff/etc.
The advantage of getting profiles in bulk from 48Days is two-fold - first off, it's a discounted price when you purchase in quantities of five (and there is no expiration on when you need to use them). Secondly, with a mere five profiles I will work with you to customize the reports so they are branded specifically to you. I can add in your logo, additional pages (i.e. intro letter from you, a "next steps" page with additional resources or a link to another product), rearrange or delete out sections (i.e. deleting the Biblical components for a secular audience), and even get you the HTML so you can have the sign-in page be directly on your site.
Here is a quick summary on the different offerings, and you can download a full sample profile for any of these on the sales pages:
  • Standard Profile ($28.50, $20/each with min/5): Our basic best-seller has been the Standard profile that has 25+ pages of information regarding your overall personality style - how to communicate with others, strengths and motivating factors, career match, communication tips and an action plan.
  • Sales Profile ($45, $30/each with min/5): In the Sales profile, you get everything you get in the Standard profile plus an assessment on their unique selling style and how they will sell to others. This is an excellent "cheat sheet" for hiring as well as performance reviews, and really helps people see how to effectively sell to the different personality styles based on their own style. (This has been a go-to tool for many State Farm agents in the hiring process)
  • Full Sha-Bang Profile ($48.50, $35/each with min/5): The Full Sha-Bang profile is again, the full Standard Profile plus a Values profile and Spiritual Gifts profile. The Standard and Values profiles pack a powerful punch for assessing whether someone is a great fit for your team, and the Spiritual Gifts component is an excellent addition for evangelical ministry positions (and can be omitted for secular use).
  • Fitness Profile ($15, $10/each with min/5): The Fitness profile has recently been added due to the large number of health/wellness coaches we work with. This profile assesses what type of exercise is going to motivate your personality style, and really helps you find the fitness routine that works for you.
You can see all our profiles (along with sample downloads so you know what you're getting) HERE. You'll see details on what you get and what you need to do. Basically, I'll walk you through all the steps and customize it to what you need. All you need to do is make the initial purchase, and then I'll walk you through the system and ensure you get exactly what you want.

As far as administering it, you will have simple cut/paste instructions to send people--they will take the report and a link to the report will immediately be emailed to you--it's that simple.
If you want to learn more about DISC and the different styles, we have an ongoing discussion going in our Coaching group that is a part of our free www.48Days.net community: DISC Personality Profiles - Quick History and Explanation.
If you want an in-depth course on understanding the DISC profiles and behavioral analysis, we also have a 48 Days DISC Certification course that is excellent! A major perk is you get TEN FREE reports when you go through the certification program, so your account is immediately stocked. (If you are interested in becoming a coach, I recommend you attend Coaching with Excellence and learn about being a 48 Days Certified Coach - part of the program includes becoming DISC Certified).

Let me know if you have any specific questions--I'm happy to get this all set up for you!
Now, with all that being said, quick answers to your questions above:
  • You can have it set up so you are automatically emailed a copy of the profile when someone takes it - so you both have instant access to it.
  • You purchase up-front from 48 Days - then you set the price to whatever you want and sell through your site. You can sell them as a product on your website (for example, I sell mine here - the price is higher because I include a video on understanding the fears/triggers as well). Or, you can add them into a coaching package as a part of it - so pricing it at $350 or $3500 can be reasonable when it's simply included in a coaching package.
  • It's a simple cut/paste to get the directions to them - they will follow instructions exactly as you did for CWE - theirs will just be a keycode that will direct them to your account instead of ours

Let me know if this clears it up for you - I'm happy to help!

Thanks so much for your comprehensive reply, Ashley. You answered my questions very well.

I will follow the links you sent, and expect to get started with it soon. Right now my time is at a premium as I am writing my Ebook, maintaining and updating my blog and looking for a new place to live since I have my house sold. I am moving out of the country, about 60 miles to a small city where I can pound the pavement and find business people, salespeople and college students to help with workshops and the DISC profile.

Today we found a house we love, and will make an offer on it as soon as the agent gets the paperwork together. If accepted, all the extra excitement should die down soon. That's how I spell relief!

For the moment I have to be sure I don't let my writing and website slip any more than they already have before I add on anything else. Right now I am working in the mornings and packing in the afternoons. Please don't count me negligent if it takes me a few weeks to get rolling with DISC.

Thanks again for your great answer,

Ok... I need some honest feedback on my business. My “bread and butter” is freelance videography for wellness companies and health consultants. It's great, and I enjoy it. I also could potentially take a full-time job with a company doing video for them. However, I've really enjoyed working from home.

In addition to video, I also want to focus part of my time teaching and coaching in a specific area of wellness.

However, I have spent time video coaching for wellness entrepreneurs. Because video is my primary expertise, it seemed like a good choice. I'm not loving it. Some have said to maybe drop the video coaching, keeping my video freelancing, and take some time to build my own wellness consulting.

I seem to always be starting new things. I think there's value in focus and long-term consistency. I'm trying to decide how much to focus on video coaching, or if I should just drop it.

Way more people want to hire me to make their videos, most are not looking to hire a video coach.

Here's my site http://naturalwellnessvideocoach.com/

Would love your thoughts. Thanks!

Spencer,

I love your website. Very well done. My husband has been thinking about vlogging, so I shared it with him as well. Really great info about video!

I think you know what to do. What don't you like about video coaching? Would that be the same in wellness coaching? What is holding you back from making the switch? Rather than coaching one on one, could you create courses and teach that way? Would that change what you don't like? How long have you been doing the video coaching?

Life is too short to spend time doing things you don't enjoy. Of course, we all have things we have to do that aren't fun, but why would you put effort into a business that's not fulfilling for you?

To your point about starting new things, I think it's a delicate balance. Some people just stay stuck their whole lives and others are jumping from one idea to the next - some of us are a little of both. It's great to know when to drop things that aren't working. And having the persistence to make things work out long term is a gift. Based on the success you've had with your freelance work, you're doing something right.

I think you're on the right track. Hope my thoughts were helpful.

Thanks for the feedback Holly!

I enjoy teaching people. I think that trying to create a personal brand around video coaching might not be the best use of my time. However, I do plan to create more online courses about making video. My current course is about making better video with an iPhone. https://www.udemy.com/grow-your-business-with-iphone-videos

I have a few people I'm working with locally with video coaching. I find joy in helping other's get their message and information out to more people. So I will continue to do that in some capacity.

What I don't like about the video coaching is teaching the technical. What I do like is encouraging people and providing simple solutions for them to make better video. I like the idea of creating several online courses, but maybe letting go of creating an online brand as a video coach. I would rather be know for helping people find their purpose and live in wellness.

In my experience doing freelance video work, there have been many people who are just starting their business and can't yet pay for my services. For them, my online courses on DIY video would be ideal. Also anyone looking to do Facebook Live, Periscope, etc could benefit from my online courses.

Thanks again, this was very helpful.

I'm so glad it helped Spencer.

I like that you're going to continue with the video content. I think that's huge and there's tons of opportunity right now. I could afford to start doing videos myself.

I get what you're saying about the technical stuff. It's frustrating. I think you have the right idea there.

How does helping people find their purpose and live in wellness relate to what you're doing now? Can you tie them together? Will you stretch yourself too thin by having two completely different focuses - video and wellness? I'm certain there's a way to fit your skills and passion into a neater package.

Keep us posted on what you decide.

Thanks Holly!

really liked your site.. The 26 minute video was too long for what I could do right this minute. maybe smaller bites? I"ll be attending the doterra wellness convention in SLC... will you be attending or having a booth there?

I have a NEED. I have written a kids book and am in serious need of an awesome illustrator. Must be able to draw life like animals - Badgers, deer, elk, dogs, goats, rabbits, bears, magpies; landscapes including grassy fields and mountains; and buildings. Please let me know if you are interested or know someone who is. I'm looking for something similar to Beatrice Potter (not cartoons). Thanks!

Christine - rhat is so cool! This may be a good question to port in the Write It Forward group as well.
Christine, I invite you to look over my portfolio. If I can be of service to you, just let me know!
