"It certainly does help, Todd! You managed to cut right to the heart of what I was asking, and gave me some really good action steps to take. Your idea of starting on one site and then leveraging it to gain traction on others is really solid, and…"
"Hey Steve, I just joined both this group and the 48 days community in the last hour, so forgive if I'm out of turn here....
In addition to Daniel's great advice, I may be able to help. In your original question, you don't give a lot…"
"Thanks, Daniel - exactly the kind of honest, useful advice I was hoping for.
In regard to the time it takes to update and monitor, I am looking into HootSuit. Do you have any experience with it (or any of its competitors)? Do they make social media…"
"I know that you qualified your question with "beyond the work involved in updating and monitoring them all..." but I would just encourage you to not skim over that consideration. Any social platform is going to take a good long while to…"
I am in the planning phase of a new venture, and have been thinking about a marketing strategy a lot lately. I know that I want to leverage social media to drive traffic to my web site, but am not sure which social media communities to get involved with, or how many I should plan on using. My business is a visual one (graphic design), so it would seem that the more visually-oriented services, like Instagram and Pinterest would be well-suited to my purpose. However, Facebook and Twitter are the…See More
"I think that sharing resources that the author has given permission to share in this way is perfectly fine. I think that, in most cases, the author's intention is to get his work out to as many people as possible, and this serves that purpose."
"I think that if you are mentioning them in a blog post, then it's OK. In that case, you are promoting the efforts of the originator of the content. But I would be careful about presenting them in such a way that it looks as if you are the…"
"James, I thought I would have the same trouble, but I have come up with a system that seems to be working for me. I haven't even gone live with my blog yet, so we will see, but I already have several posts in the can and many more ideas for…"
"I am going through the same thing right now, and I have been investigating WordPress theme builders - basically themes that are highly customizable, almost like a dedicated WYSIWYG web page authoring program, but within the WordPress…"
"My biggest struggle is just getting started. I am a graphic designer, but not a web designer. I have settled on WordPress as my CMS, but I am concerned about the look and feel of my site more than a lot of people, due to my profession. I am learning…"
"Hi, Wade:
I'm not sure what exactly you are selling, but I ran across this tutorial elsewhere in this forum. Depending on what your product is, it may work for…"
"Hi Steve,
Great questions.
I'm wading through this myself.
I've got my wordpress site set up at www.FriarWade.com
But I'm just selling on Amazon and ebay right now.
I want to integrate, but I still don't have a clear…"
"You can definitely test it out, but essentially once they click to pay, it directs them to paypal, then once payment is submitted the Order is added to your "Orders" section under the WooCommerce section on your WordPress dashboard. Make a…"
"WOW, thanks for the quick and very helpful reply, Brandon. I checked out the WooCommerce site, and it looks like it fits the bill for me, too. Can't wait to test it out. How does it work on a local development server? Is it possible to test it…"
How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?
The 48 Days podcast and book.
What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
Currently employed full time.
And then...what is your goal/dream for your work life?
I am currently developing an idea to leverage my graphic design skills to start a company that designs and prints invitations and other materials for weddings, parties, etc. I hope to, at least, have a steady second income stream. Preferably, I would love to quit my job and do my own thing full time.
How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?
I would like to further develop my woodworking/handyman skills, in order to better keep my 150-year-old historic home in repair.
What would you say are your strongest talents? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?
My strongest talents are my creativity, my communication skills and my technical knowledge of the printing and graphic design industries.
Do you have a website presence anywhere?

I am interested in starting a business that lets me utilize my creative skills and talents. This would include (but not necessarily be limited to) blogging, podcasting, writing, and sales & marketing.
