- How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?
- We started this 48Days.net community after watching the "social network" phenomenon for several years. I thought there was a place for an "idea network" where we could share ideas and grow our businesses together. Something more than telling people you saw a celebrity or ate at Ben & Jerry's last night.
- What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
- I am an entrepreneur from the top of my head to the tip of my toes. Haven't had a "real job" since I was a kid.
I cringe whenever I see an elementary school textbook present a problem such as "If a quarter of a pound of ham costs $2, how much will three pounds cost?" Any child who has accompanied a parent shopping for groceries knows that things are cheaper per pound when you buy a greater quantity. As a result, though the child may eventually learn to solve such problems the way the textbook wants, the real lesson being imparted is that mathematics is a stupid, arbitrary subject having no relevance to the real world.
- And then...what is your goal/dream for your work life?
- I trust it doesn't come as a surprise that I am living my dream. I didn't get it all worked out at age 20 but at this point in my life I'm certainly living the life I dreamed about.
My primary work activities are writing, speaking and coaching.
- How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?
- I have three incredible children -- and 9 grandchildren. Joanne and I have been married for over 43 years and keep figuring out how to make our marriage better!
- What would you say are your strongest talents? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?
- I love writing. I am a voracious reader so I am constantly getting new ideas that I want to pass on to people. In 2011 I read 78 books to continue finding principles to pass along. There is a wealth of wisdom in past writings and I want to be effective in distilling that and then making applications for today.

- I joined 48 Days community several years ago. Since than I have put some effort into establishing myself as a musician, songwriter and other, poetry and fiction. I have the workings of a book on breaking free from a lifestyle of mental illness - schizoaffective/bipolar and living a "new normal."
I'm saddened by an online presence and what I really want is to write the book out fully and then have it published. The business side - marketing, branding, blogging, social media - are beginning to take their toll on my family. I.e., too much time and energy spent.
What can be done to get this book in me out to the public without all the business side of it driving me and my family further apart?

Dan, I can't wait until my family can meet you and your wife! I'm getting a ton of info gathered and making a huge white board on my office wall so my team can figure out the next several steps we need to take. Since flying back this week, I have had a ton of ideas come to mind for the book and have been writing them down.
