I don’t know who said it first, but I’m saying it now, so I shall take the credit. You are my witness. Experience is often called the best teacher. Hogwash! Experience is the last teacher. Other people’s experience is the better teacher. (Andy Andrews has said something similar, I know:).
Books are probably the best way to learn from others’ experiences. And, as I rarely read anything that isn’t at least close to great nowadays, most of the books I read are “one of the most important books I’ve ever read!”
Currently, I’m devouring everything I can find by Andy Andrews – I recommend starting with The Traveler’s Gift. Mr. Andrews’ books present wisdom of the ages in fascinating, even riveting, stories. His own story, some of which is in The Noticer and some of which is available in the podcast he does with Andy Traub – In The Loop with Andy Andrews, is nearly as inspiring as the characters in his books. I’d say more but I don’t want to spoil anything. Please, run to the library (or jump on Amazon) and start reading immediately.
