Jeff, Ann, and Alan, thanks for the responses!
Alan, yes, definitely agree on the company we keep impacts our results!

Comment by Alan Jackson on January 16, 2013 at 9:47pm Jen I think you'll agree. The company we keep can really impact the results we achieve. Having vibrant people in our circle, ones actively pursuing their goals, makes it much easier to be vibrant and active. In contrast, if we hang out with dispassionate, lazy, or indifferent types, we are prone to behave more like them.
We do have a choice to live a reactive or proactive life. Reactivity unduly surrenders us to outside forces. No matter how bad things get, at least the finger of blame points elsewhere. Being proactive can offer huge rewards, but leaves little room to reproach others.
Oh, don't make the mistake of trying to go it alone either. That's a sure recipe for failure.
Keep being awsome my friend,
-Alan
Comment by Ann Musico on January 16, 2013 at 10:19am My absolute best tip is to take baby steps - don't bite off more than you can chew - otherwise you'll become frustrated and overwhelmed very quickly and chuck it all! And having that accountability partner or a coach to walk you through is priceless. Many times the one thing a client will tell me is that they were tempted to slip and knowing they would be talking to me and wanting to "make me proud" was the deciding factor! Whatever it takes!
Great post Jen, Just last nite I was thinking about how January is already half over. For most of my life, by this time of year I would be thinking "now when am I going to get started on that; oh there is still time." I have painfully found that when we say "when I have time," it's like saying that you will save whatever money is left over at the end of the month. There is none!
Last year when I was coaching with Joel, he encouraged me to find mentors and fill my mind with inspirational material. He told me that my life would be unrecognizable in 6 months. Some of it happened so quiety but the consistency has paid off. Now I have doors opening that I never could have imagined.
Thank you for your inspiration!
