Recently I did an experiment and found the results to be very intriguing. While listening to a series on one’s calling in life by Gary Barkalow, he suggested a photo exercise.
The exercise is to glance through a series of stock photos and save any that immediately grab your attention or make you take a second look. Next, go through and look for any themes or correlation between the photos.
It was super interesting and revealing and helped me better understand myself. I have realized that, in whatever situation I am in, I long to nurture and provide healing, clarity, and hope.
These are the pictures that immediately grabbed my attention:
Question: Have you ever thought about what photographs you are attracted to and why? I would love to see your slideshow. Post a link to your video in the comments.

Comment by Rob Clinton on February 21, 2012 at 8:40am It is interesting... There are many other pictures that would capture my attention though, but out of the group you showed, those particular ones stood out. I do enjoy and have a deep appreciate for things, but to nurture I have to be intentional about it. I'll create a plan of action, so that I'm nurturing like I should be. Now, you being a High "S", that makes a lot of sense to me.
Comment by Claudia Good on February 20, 2012 at 6:34pm Hmm Rob,
That is totally interesting. Just from the photos you liked I would have guessed as you said that you were a high "S" as I am.
Comment by Rob Clinton on February 19, 2012 at 9:06am Absolutely about Gary! and as interesting as it sounds. My DISC says I'm a (D,I), and "C" is above mid-line as well... My S is way down, so nurturing can be an intentional effort for me. When one looks at my writing, you might think that my S is up, which is completely opposite. When you read long enough, you soon realize, that my compassion for others is still geared toward seeking results; or making things better than they were.

Yup, totally relate to your words :) especially how you said, "freedom and compassion for what's fragile..." This especially rings true with me. I have always wanted to help the helpless.
Have you listened to Gary Barkalow? His stuff is absolutely amazing!
What are you in your DISC profile (just curious) :)
Comment by Rob Clinton on February 16, 2012 at 4:33am Well, a good majority of your pictures spoke to me in some unique way, but the most capturing of all had to do with the delicate or fragile things of life in all its beauty. Such has the baby laying in an incubater, to the greatness in what appears to be empty nothingness on an wide open beach, to looking up into the trees as though your peering into an infinite place. Something about freedom to be and compassion for what's fragile rings well with me. I'm looking forward to gathering a set stock photos and going through this exercise...

Awesome! Ya, we loved doing this together. Super fun to see what the other person chose :) Michael just put his up and ours are quite opposite. haha
curious which ones stood out to you?
Comment by Rob Clinton on February 15, 2012 at 7:01am Wow, that was really cool! In just looking through this, there were a few that grabbed my attention, and gave me a real affirmation about what fascinates me. I'm going to have to try this out with another bulk of photos. Thanks for sharing....
