I'm told there is a book which inspired a mentor of a friend of mine back in the 80s called "Tu Puedes!" The translation is: "You Can (do it)!"
During hot New Mexico summer days, as we were missionaries proselyting door-to-door or being chased by dogs (which outnumbered people 2:1 in some towns like Vado), we would chide each other with the mantra of "Tu Puedes!"
While it was a bit of a laugh at the time, I have used this saying over and over again when the going gets tough to remember that the only difference in an outcome during difficult times is my attitude.
Dr. Viktor E. Frankl is quoted as saying: "Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom."
With the simple phrase "Tu Puedes!" I have often taken a deep breath and dug in to take the more difficult route and learn the lesson rather than try to take the easy way out.
As you confront difficulties, just remember: "Tu Puedes!"
