The Power of Surrounding Yourself With High Achievers

Last night I had the pleasure of speaking to women leaders that are involved with the United Way WINGs program. Wow! Talk about being inspired as I was surrounded by incredible women who were not only high achievers, but people who were paying it forward.

In talking to the group it struck me again of the importance of focusing in on who you intentionally surround yourself with. It really does affect your own attitude and how you choose to map your life out. There is incredible synergy that is formed when you surround yourself with high achievers who are looking forward in life versus bitter folks who are living their life in the past.

Recently I was honored to have two very strong woman who are high achievers form a Friday mastermind group.  While we are all at different stages in our lives, we are making strives to live out our purpose and passion. Why did the three of us commit to carving out time each week to get out of our comfort zones to open up with each other?

Knowing that adversity will hit each of us throughout our lives, we want to be able to be there for each other to not only strengthen each other, but to form a bond for those times we will need each other. We know that with two we are strong, but with three we are a braid.

Another gift of having the group meet is we are discovering the empowerment of having each other mirror back our strengths. This has helped me personally break through some times of uncertainty.

While it can be a challenge to put away your excuses  such as not having enough time, taking intentional action to surround yourself with high achievers is incredibly rewarding.

My wish for all of  you is that you will focus in on who you are surronding your life with, focus in on changing your attitude if you are making excuses of why you are not, and then take ACTION to make it happen.

Question: What actions are you taking to  intentionally surround yourself with high achievers?

Ann, I mirror back your wonderful comments as you have helped me embrace that it is okay to be imperfectly me. You calming nature is like a balm on my insecurities!

I agree, 48days.net has been a game changer for me as well. EXTREMELY grateful as it has brought not only you, but many folks that I am inspired, motivated, and encouraged by.

It's a privilege and real blessing for me personally to be connected with you.  You have a way of not only inspiring and motivating me - but making me really believe anything is possible.  I am in total agreement - connecting with and surrounding yourself with people who are making forward strides is such a key and blessing.  Being part of this community has been a huge game changer for me.

Dan, it is so incredible when we do this as you mention below. I once thought it was hard to "find those people" - turns out I wasn't taken action to do so. It really isn't that hard...it just takes some intentional action to get our butts in gear to find great people.

Yes, I would have to say that Franklin, TN is a pretty awesome place! HOWEVER, I have to add that Lindstrom, MN (town of 3,000) is full of pretty dang cool people as well. HA! We both know that in truth, we can find those high achievers wherever we are if we choose to seek them out, especially in this modern day of technology.

Jen - great advice as always.  This is a principle I've used since I was a kid.  Find people who are already performing at a level at which I want to perform and then figure out ways to spend time with them.  I went to Chamber of Commerce meetings, attended countless workshops and seminars and read the books that showed me their principles for success.

Today I continue to do the same things.  Of course I tell people that Franklin, TN is the intellectual center of the universe - ha!  It doesn't hurt that I get to hang out with people like Michael Hyatt, Dave Ramsey, Patsy Clairmont, Ken Abraham, Jeff Moseley and others.
