Here's a couple of tips for earning some passive income through your writing - it works for me and are proven techniques. I've implemented the strategies and get a monthly check whether I write or not all from work I've done in the past.
Just to give you an idea - last year I put in maybe 10-hours worth of work on my website, yet it continued to receive over 10,000 unique visitors a month providing me a residual income and the best part is...I didn't have to have any interaction with customers!
If you have content on your website or blog then I recommend placing some Google Adsense ads on your site. Don't put the ads on your homepage or product page, especially if you're selling your services. However, if you're blogging or writing articles regularly then place some test ads into your articles and see what happens.

Another strategy I use involves reguitating my articles / posts: Sign up for a Hubpages account: http://hubpages.com/_snippets/user/new/ submit your articles or blog posts, integrate Google Adsense & Hubpage Earnings and start earning passively.
Here's a hub I submitted today: http://hubpages.com/_snippets/hub/Free-General-Resume-Template
Here's a list of my hubs: http://hubpages.com/_snippets/profile/netbizman
BTW - feel free to comment on my hubs/articles rating them or Voting them up or down!
Basically, everything I post on hubpages has already been posted on my website and/or blog. Many times I post the exact same article and in a few instances I alter it somewhat, but the results are the same...
So if you're struggling to generate some income online or want to add an additional stream of income I highly recommend Google Adsense and Hubpages - it works for me and it works for others - review some of the success stories at the link below.
This isn't a "Get Rich Quick" or "You Can Retire Tomorrow" program, but people are making anywhere from $300 to $1200 a month passively (me included) - read their success stories: http://hubpages.com/_snippets/success/
Would an additionial $300 to $1200 a month help you out? If you're going to be writing - why not monetize it?
Feel free to comment here or contact me with your questions I'd be glad to help you in any way & don't forget to visit my hubpage and vote: http://hubpages.com/_snippets/hub/Free-General-Resume-Template
Pressing On to Success!

Thanks for your response Chris and it's well worth your time to check into Hubpages!
As far as "duplicate content" - Never had a problem with it, others may dispute this, but for me and other IMers - it hasn't been a problem. Google the topic of duplicate content and you'll get a variety of responses.
Comment by Chris Peek on June 29, 2011 at 9:53am Hey Jeff,
Thanks for sharing your insights. I'm going to try this on my blog and test it out. I've heard that Google penalizes you when posting the same content in multiple places by ranking it lower. Have you had any issues with posting article both on your site and on hubpages?
Hi Trent,
Yes, the concepts are from the material provided by SBI - http://buildit.sitesell.com/java.html
Their free affiliate handbook is what got me started in creating an authority site / affiliate site -
http://aff-masters.sitesell.com/java.html loads of great information in it, but they do promote their services/tools, which I eventually signed up to use.
It's definately worth a look - I was skeptical at first, but it's proven itself as I've applied the principles their course teaches and have grown my website to over 10,000 unique visitors a month. My goal is to convert some of that traffic into "coaching opportunities."
Hi Connie,
Hubpages is another Web 2.0 tool that writers can use to do exactly what you mentioned: build readership & create a supplemental income. It may not make a person rich, but who couldn't use an extra $300 or $1200 a month? Pray that all goes well on your journey!

Pray all is going well with you!
