If you are exercising like crazy every day, eating a diet fit for a rabbit and still you don’t see the needle on the scale moving, there could be some underlying reasons. We know that stress will cause the release of cortisol and when you are experiencing chronic stress, that will cause you to gain belly fat and stall your weight loss efforts. Not sleeping enough, eating too few calories and over-exercising could also be causing a problem. I am going to assume for the purposes of this post that you are drinking enough water, eating clean protein and doing the basic things that result in weight loss success.
If you still find you are stuck, here are a few thoughts as to what might be blocking your best efforts.
Stress/Adrenal Fatigue: Ok I know I mentioned stress above, but if you’ve been experiencing unremitting, chronic stress you may not be dealing with adrenal fatigue and that can most definitely cause problems with weight loss. Effectively managing stress is going to be critical. There are some unique ways to do this that I highly recommend, including the Healing Codes and supplements like Adaptgen that help retrain your body’s fight or flight response and reducing cortisol production.
Thyroid: Very closely related to adrenal fatigue is low thyroid or hypothyroid. You would need to be tested by your doctor but it’s common to have low thyroid and adrenal fatigue at the same time. Even if your testing comes back within normal ranges, if one of your symptoms is inability to lose weight, it still could be a factor. Detoxing and eating as clean, nutrient-dense a diet as possible will definitely help.
Food sensitivities: Even if you don’t have food allergies, you may have become sensitive to certain foods – particularly those you may have a strong craving for. Food sensitivities keep your immune system chronically fired up, overwhelming your whole system. If you have strong cravings for certain foods and eat them or any foods all the time, it might be a good idea to rotate the foods you include in your meals and see how that affects you.
Toxicity: Detox is step one of Today’s the Day and here are a few of my reasons: toxicity creates inflammation which can cause weight gain; toxins interfere with fat burning; they can cause leptin resistance as well as fatigue and cravings.
