Your dreams may be the real beginnings of the future you want.

In Seven Pillars of Wisdom, T.E. Lawrence says, "There are dreamers, but not all human beings dream equally. Some are dreamers of the night, who in the dusty recesses of their mind dream and wake in the morning to find it was just vanity. But the Dreamers of the Day are dangerous people because they act their dreams into reality with open eyes."

Now there's a clear picture. "Dreamers of the Day" are dangerous because they "act their dreams into reality with open eyes." We are hearing a lot about dreams this week. Our new president has inspired people to think big, and never stop believing that big dreams can come true. Certainly, his own life story is a clear example of that.

In today's sophisticated, technological world we often dismiss our night dreams as the result of too much pizza or having too much on our minds when we went to bed. But what about those day dreams? Are they to be dismissed as just random thoughts passing through our brains? Should we pay attention to those "dreams" or just hunker down and be "realistic" and "practical" with the economy in the shape it is? With jobs being lost, homes being foreclosed, 700 billion dollars up in smoke, and General Motors on the brink of disaster, surely now is not the time to dream. Or is it? Haven't you experienced in your own life how those times of trials often release your best ideas? Have you ever taken a dream and acted it into reality? Isn't that where your best ideas started?

Could your "dreams of the day" be the seeds of creative problem solutions and the opening door into your greatest new opportunities?

As a life coach, nothing concerns me more than beginning the coaching process with someone who says they have no dreams. No dreams traps people in jobs they hate, relationships that have never blossomed, and cars, houses and clothes that serve nothing but utilitarian functions.

Don't underestimate the value of your night dreams for problem solving and creative approaches to your situation. And by all means, keep dreaming during the day. Tap into those recurring thoughts and ideas that have followed you for years.

"All successful men and women are big dreamers. They imagine what their future could be, ideal in every respect, and then they work every day toward their distant vision, that goal or purpose." -- Brian Tracy

********************************************
If you can't dream it, it won't likely happen. Success doesn't sneak up on us. It starts as a dream that we combine with a clear plan of action. Become a Dreamer of the Day and watch your success soar.

Even the Bible tells us -- "Where there is no vision, the people perish." (Prov 29:18) We are not going to perish as individuals, families, companies or a nation -- unless we ignore those beautiful dreams of the day.

Mike,
I've never really understood the attraction of what most people see as "security." I hear from people every day who thought they had security only to discover they had nothing more than a week to week paycheck that could disappear at any moment. Ask those 1000 people who were notified that today would be their last day at Microsoft. As I often quote, "Security is your ability to produce." That means security comes from doing something exceptionally well. I personally think right now is an incredible time to buy an old house -- IF you have the ability to remodel it. Keep dreamin - and keep cruisin on that motorcycle to help blow new ideas into your brain!

Dan,

Reaching out in this so called "bad" economy is difficult for my wife. We own two businesses and I would like to take atvantage of the housing market and purchase a old mansion to remodel and to open a bed and breakfast. She is terified of opening ourselves up to that. She is a teacher and wants to quit working to pursue her dream (2nd busines) but is scared not to have that steady income to supplement if times get difficult. God has been so wonderful with his blesssings on my business over the past 6 years and has already shown His hand at the other; that I know He will continue; but she is really hard to try to take a risk without certanity--her whole family is that way. Me, I have a drawer full of businesses that I would like to pursue. I have always been told that I am a dreamer and certain people are glad that I am content with only a third of them comoing true; I am not. You words always inspire me to keep dreaming. Thank you.

Hello Dan!
Thank you for your inspiration! I am reading your book "No More Monday's" and I am so inspired! I would love to work from home in the health field. Any suggestions or web-sites that would help to get started?
Thank You and much gratitude!

Dan,

One of my favorite quotes by an author named Neale Donald Walsch is "Others see their possibility in the reality of you. Your message is your life lived." It never matters what we say, it's HOW we live our life that inspires people to rise to higher ground.

Yes, I agree with Harperson, this is a great post! And quite timely for me. Lately I have been asking myself what happened to my childhood dreams...? As children we dream big and with no limits, but as grown ups we trend to box our dreams to fit int o what other say we can or we cant do. Recieving the 48 datys newsletter and being in this network is helping me break the walls that I allowed to "box in" my dreams , one step at a time and one day at a time. Thank you.

Max -- that sounds awesome. I agree that often our best opportunity comes out of our own greatest struggles. I'll be eager to see your new product!

Dan,
I really like what you have said here, "tap into those recurring thoughts and ideas that have followed you for years." For the past three weeks I have been rehearsing my desires and dreams. I have focused on certain ideas for businesses for years with many defeats and let-downs. Then it hit me like a ton of bricks, turn the process of the pasts years and my ability to not give up into the product. So as of now I am, thanks to 48days.net and observing the community in action, putting together "Q4BizPlan" a prelude to the boring business plan books on most bookstore shelves. My Quadrant will encourage, excite, and release creativity. I hope to have my product ready very soon, based on your "How to Write" format. Thanks for the encouragement and direction from, "No more Mondays" and this web-site.

Dan,

Great post as always! I have been accused of being a "dreamer" and even that I would never accomplish anything simply because I changed course several times in my life. I have tried to ignore this advice and move forward anyway!
