48 Years to... Death or Retirement

I started down the 48 Days to the Work You Love path with excitement and great expectations. Somehow, like many of you, my path has turned into something more aptly described as the "4 - 8 Years to the Work You Love" - which is fine as long as it doesn't turn into "48 Years to finally getting to retire or die."

The last couple years have been particularly challenging as I've been getting closer and closer to my free agent career, but have had my efforts derailed by downsizing at my full-time job. Friday marks the third full-time job in a row that has eliminated my position (though, to be fair, the first of those three eliminated everyone's positions as they went out of business).

Thankfully, I saw this coming, and my wife and I have been preparing for it. Thanks to Dan's materials and example, we are moving into a better phase of life where we choose how we live and make money. We are going to create the work and the lifestyle we want. I'm done pushing papers at "Office Space" jobs. 

If your 48 days has turned into 4-8 years, take heart. Don't give up. Keep moving forward. Let's make this the year we start living our dreams.
