Stop Putting Out Fires

To listen to the audio of this blog you can Click Here!

I think it used to be my job to put out fires. Though I was hired to implement projects, or support certain systems there was always a fire to put out; there was always something that went wrong.

What I figured out later that what was wrong was my perspective; my attitude. What was wrong was my inability to see…

2011 Was My Biggest Business Failure

Someone once told me they thought I was a millionaire. At least that’s the perception that I’ve built for some. Not sure if it’s the look of my site, or a picture of me in a blazer or what, but somehow I’ve created that perception for some.

I’m going to be perfectly honest with you. First I’m not a millionaire…. YET… The real truth is, it has been quite a challenging year for me and my family. In the midst of running a business, we have had challenge after challenge…

The Good Life at 65 is a Mirage

This is a fairly common hope. The idea that if I can just get to age 65, then I can live my life and be happy has really done so much damage to this world’s creativity; it’s no where near funny.

  1. Well, of course the natural question is, “What if you never see 65? Was it really worth hating…

Maybe God Hates My Guts?

Now, let me tell you about last week. I believe I had technology-glitch-galore going on. My hard drive on the computer crashed, and I ended up getting a replacement sent to me. I keep backups so I still had most of my data.

Also, my phone went out too! It’s been acting up for several weeks now, and I was trying to hold out for a couple months when I was eligible for a replacement, but it didn’t turnout that way. Now I’m talking on an old LG that I had lying around. I…

Closed Doors? Open Doors!

When one door closes another door opens.

People are too often attached to the past, to what they are familiar with, and therefore miss opportunities that stand right in front of them. Doors may close, but there are always unlimited numbers of doors – new opportunities. The world is full of opportunities, if we could only see them. The Infinite Power is infinite, and so the possibilities are without number.

Not every plan works out, there are losses and failures, there…

"The hunger within" Daily Insights - July 2, 2010

The decision to stay in a job you hate is to starve off your spirit, nine hours at a time. -jb

When you think about it, it’s actually more than nine hours.

If you’re giving your best at a job that drains your energy and leaves you exhausted, it could very well be taking the fun out of the remaining precious hours in the day.

One of the ladies I worked with in 2009 came to that realization.

By her own admission, she poured so much of herself into the job, by the…

"A different path" Daily Insights - June 12, 2010

The road to intention is strewn with unfamiliar pebbles of opportunity. -jb

Not only do many of the opportunities of today appear unfamiliar, they may not even resemble that which we have been trained to look for and follow.

The refreshing news is that there is never a shortage of paths to take when you take the time to listen, (not just hear, but really listen) to the directions given to you by your inner voice.

Ask yourself, “What types of projects, populations, or…

Finding that one thing

Successful enterpreneurs. Defined by enjoying what they do and actually making good money at it. They have found a marriage between:

1. something they are passionate about doing & can actually do with skill, and

2. an opportunity in the marketplace where what they deliver is wanted

All other wanna be entrepreneurs are searching for that 'one thing' (call out to Jack Palance in City Slickers for those in the know)

That's daunting.
