All the adversity I've had in my life, all my troubles and obstacles, have strengthened me... You may not realize it when it happens, but a kick in the teeth may be the best thing in the world for you. ~ Walt Disney…

Dan Miller must have read my mind. What perfect timing to read his blog.
As some of you know, I was recently laid-off by the organization I gave nearly 32 years of my life too. I am 56 years-old and between my age, health and spending years in a job that wasn't advancing my skills towards modern techniques with asset management and purchasing, I basically became a master of nothing.

Most people drowning in debt would be stressed out. Panic would be the normal agenda. Granted, the day I was informed of the bad news my head was spinning at times. But the relief to finally have the opportunity to develop my own business overshadows debt at the moment.

One of the best decisions I made early on in my blogging career was to join the forums at 48Days.net. I discovered the forum by purchasing Dan Miller's best-selling book, "48 Days to The Work You Love". The book guided me to visit to Dan's featured site- 48days.com and it was there I learned of the opportunities to connect with other people at 48days.net.…

Me... An entrepreneur in 2013? Yes I will!!
Growing up as Dan Miller’s kid, is it any surprise that he took an early-in-life leaning toward the tug of independence and entrepreneurialism? (Jump to the show.)

On December 27, 2012, Heath Miller was voted the Most Valuable Player on the Steelers football team by his teammates. It is the first time in the history of the Steelers' team history that a tight end received this recognition. Miller didn't win this title because of one or two spectacular plays, but because of what he did on every play during the season.
Heath's position as "Tight End" is not one of the more glorious positions in football; they aren't typically making the huge…

2013- A New Year
2013 – The New Year
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas this year. It is hard to believe that we are at the end of 2012. There is a lot of wonder and anxiety going into 2013. We have the fiscal cliff we are facing, struggling economy, the tragedy in Connecticut and basically a divided country. I wished I could say that I could solve those problems overnight, but no one can and a quick fix usually sets us up for a future failure. I believe…

We shoot someone's hope, dream and possible future down quickly. If everyone followed our own fearful advice, there'd be no electricity, surgeons, automobiles, medicine, clean water or technical device to read this blog.
Some good advice about seeking sources for advice.

Several days ago, I wrote a blog about the apparent political choices inducing a negative outcome between government, employers and employees. The day after the election some companies began to introduce massive layoffs and/ or the reduction of full-time jobs with benefits. I failed to cover some obvious positive possibilities during that blog due to time constraints. So let's talk about the upside to another seemingly down-economy.…

48 Days – For Real!
We have read the book. We know the plan. Dan Miller tells us that in 48 days we can have the work we love. How far have we gotten? We have possibly made some changes. We have possibly taken some steps. But have we arrived at that place we set our sights on or did we get distracted along the way? Did we stop to rest? Did we get completely off course?
We have to applaud Dan for his remarkable book about getting started. We have to thank him for his dedication to really wanting to make a…
