One thing is certain...I'm headed for uncertainty!

It's been a long time since I have written a blog here.  Lately I have been feeling the pressure starting to build as I am roughly 1 year away from retiring from the Army.  For years I have had a secure and stable income which has allowed my family and I to enjoy a nice standard of living.  However, improving our quality of life is more important to me at this point.  I am willing to walk away from this in order to pursue a career that is more fulfilling.  I am currently in a job that has me on…See More

Not everyone is designed for greatness

If you have read a book or two on personal development you will stumble across the idea that humans are 'designed for greatness'. It sounds like a great idea.....something that makes you feel warm and happy. But is it true? Is everyone wired to be high achievers and 'go getters'? Is everyone able to trade coach tickets for first class and the balcony seats for front row? I hardly think so. I believe that a few people are 'called' or 'wired' for greatness and most are not.Do I believe I am…See More

Hey, Sergeant Steve! You're right. As an ENFP, being in mechanical engineering for 25 years pretty much makes me a freak. I sure understand why it didn't work/barely worked well so much of the time. It's hard for an ENFP to be anything like what ENGINEERING is looking for. Probably partly be why I didn't survive the layoffs.

Is there *anything*, I wonder, that I can do with out strting completely over? I'm hitting the trails to give it some thought.

Hello Sergeant Steve. I did find "The Strangest Secret" by Earl Nightingale as a free download - thank you very much! I also signed up on the Nightingale website and now have access to buying a lot of the products that Nightingale-Conant has to offer. I'm constantly downloading things for inspiration and assistance. I still haven't chosen my direction yet, but at least I'm still moving!

No problem! I hope it was helpful. I think that you have a great idea and I am sure that you will be successful. You have the idea, interest, and ability to make it work. Don't worry too much about others' opinions right now, they will come around as you develop your idea and increase your confidence.

TTFN!
