Thanks so much Mike for posting that link for scholarships. We have two boys in college, so it will be helpful. I even found a scholarship for left-handed students! Thanks Julia

That was an interesting video about our changing technology. Makes you wonder where we will be in 5 years. Makes me glad that I love working with "things" (computers) and "ideas" (research) and am moving forward with the idea of my husband and I bei…

How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?
I heard about 48Days.Net from Dan Miller's newsletters.
What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
At the moment, my husband and I own a local landscape contracting business in the Nashville area called Greathouse Landscape Company. We are also garden couches with our own gardening web site. I also help people start their own home-based business using a niche based website development program called Site Build It.
And then...what is the goal/dream you are striving for regarding your work life?
Our goal is to work less and less on that business by establishing a web site in which we give advice on gardening in the Mid South. By using affiliate marketing and by having e-books and videos, we hope to be able to make enough money to retire sooner than later from our traditional work model of the landscaping business, and move into the "virtual" landscape coaching business.
How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?
Since gardening and landscaping is our business and our passion, our personal goals and dreams are all wrapped with our business goals.

I have always loved to travel. My dream is that we will be able to travel to gardens in order to incorporate those gardens into our web site. Then, we can get paid to travel!
What would you say are your core competencies? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?
Personally, I like "things" and "ideas". That makes researching and writing articles for our web site a good fit for me.

My husband and I are both goal oriented and we enjoy looking and planning towards the future and figuring out what we need to do to get to where the Lord wants us to go.
Do you have a website presence anywhere?

More than one website?

If you have a product or service to promote (now or in the near future) this is your shot to state it! Say all you'd like:
I would like to invite everyone to check out the gardening advice at our web site http://www.flowers-plants-gardening-advice.com/ With over 27 years of gardening in the Mid South, our practical tips will save you a ton of money and heartache. There are lots of places where you can add pictures of your favorite gardens or advice. Let me know what you think! Also, if you have a hobby or interest that you would like have residual income from by sharing it with others through your own web site like we have done, then check out this link http://www.BecomingAnInfopreneur.com This is ideal for the small business person just starting out (and there are zillions of folks in this boat, looking desperately for a way to make money online). If you can click a mouse, then you can build a web site using Site Build It! They give you all the tools you need to build a profitable web site. If you want to work from home, spend more time with your family, and earn money sharing what you love with others then go to http://workfromhome.sitesell.com/Julia21.html for more information.

Thanks Julia - the business is doing well, keep praying for it. I have a new found respect for business owners. It is tough :) Thank goodness for Jesus, for all things are possible with HIM who empowers us. That is the only way I get through the day. Blessings!! Wendy

Right now it looks like it'll be the end of April before I can have the time I'd love to spend with you. I don't think I congratulated you yet on being the recognized as the "featured" member. Good for you! Thought for the day: "I hope you dance!" Hugs

I've thought the same thing about getting the degree, since I'm self taught. It wouldn't hurt and would give us the credentials behind the "gift" of design. I once had a professional artist friend see my drawings (of people, not landscape) -- but she told me not to go to school for art because they would ruin my gift -- I guess I don't know any of the rules, and they would try to make me do things in a way that was by the book and not natural. Go figure! Anyway, we'll keep in touch.

Thank you Julia - your words were inspirational and gave me confirmation that I should combine my talents in these areas. Yes, let's keep in touch as we are definitely on the same page! I'll check out your web site, and I'm thinking of just doing landscape design -- make a plan and detail all the info for them. That way I won't get involved with getting the plants and having to pay someone to plant them like I used to. We'll talk later. Thanks again. Sally

Julia, thanks so much for inviting me to this site! I praise God for crossing our paths this side of heaven. You are a wonderful friend whom I treasure. We keep talking about getting together. Sure hope we can do that soon! Hugs, Sherry

I read with interest your idea about offering gardening advice via a web based business -- I am a self-taught landscape designer and have had my own business called Edenscapes -- successful when the economy was doing well, but slow now. A lot of people want free info, and this would be a better way to get paid for my expertise. I am in the Virginia Beach area and would be considered a "southern living" expert in the plant area. Thanks for the great idea!

I have a question about sitesell that I thought you could answer. I was wondering if I build a site through sitesell, and I want to switch later, is the content mine? Am I free to switch?
