An idea for a gift giving website

Following a discussion with a friend about creating a direct sales business for men to get together like women do for parties like Scentsy candles, my wife and his made a suggestion. What about a website where you could schedule to send gifts to your special person? You could pick out gifts to be sent out on a specific date for things like anniversaries, birthdays, holidays, or just because. Some of the gift ideas could be candy, flowers, jewelry, spa appointments, etc. What I'm wondering, is…See More

Profile Information

How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?
I heard about 48Days.net after reading 48 Days and then searching for more information about Dan Miller. It is my hope that by joining this community I can receive feedback on ideas, encouragement to try my ideas, and inspiration for new ideas. I see this community as a large brainstorming area where the group "mind" grows our individual minds.
What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
Employed
And then...what is your goal/dream for your work life?
I dream of one day being able to take random trips with my family, not being concerned with how many vacation days I have or whether my job will still be there when I get back home. Doing something that doesn't take more out of me than I put in so that I have less to give mentally and emotionally to my family.
How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?
Currently, my goal is to develop a better personal schedule. I get easily distracted, and coming from a negative, pessimistic family life growing up, it's easy to become discouraged when trying to make changes for the better. In the purist of achieving goals and dreams, my first goal is to start looking at what I put into my mind. I listen to podcasts from Zig Ziglar, Dan Miller, and Dave Ramsey, and I'm reading books from authors like John C. Maxwell.
What would you say are your strongest talents? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?
I'm still working to discover my core competencies, but here's what I know about how I'm wired....

On the DISC profile, I'm a C S personality with my style being identified by the keyword "Precisionist" (n. 1. One who values precision; a purist.).

My top 5 strengths according to Strength Finder are: Responsibility, Learner, Strategic, Restorative

Top 3 Spiritual Gifts: Teacher, Prophet & Server, and Exhorter

Hi TJ,

Thanks for joining Strengthen My Spiritual Life. Feel free to chime in on any of the discussions that we have going on. Currently there are two that are developing.

The first is a long series over the basics of growing with Jesus.

The second is a new outline and direction for the group as a whole. You'll also probably recognize it offline as I am working on a similar plan with Anthony at the Experience. :)

Feel free to share any comments, thoughts, suggestions, on any of the current discussions, or start your own.

Thanks for teaming up with us in Strengthen My Spiritual Life and thanks for checking out the community here on 48days.net!

Hello Thomas,

I try to take time each week to welcome new members to 48Days.Net. So, let me say "welcome" to you! I know you will find this to be a great site filled with people who are experiencing true success in both life and work.

Also, I'd like to point out that one of the best places to connect with other liked-minded people here is in the GROUPS section. There are groups for just about every interest you can think of, and if you can't find a group that interests you, you can start one. Groups are my favorite part of 48Days.Net!

Finally, if you happen to be a speaker or author (or want to become either), check out these two groups. They are two of the most popular groups on the site because of all the great conversation taking place:

* Speak It Forward -- REAL Success and Profit for Speakers!
* Write It Forward -- REAL Success and Profit for Writers!

Again, enjoy 48Days.Net. It's a great place to be!

Live it forward,
Kent Julian

Hi TJ,

Welcome to the community on 48days.net! I see you have already found the discussion board and have gotten some excellent feedback. Here's a quick list of the groups that I mentioned to you yesterday if you are interested:

Strengthen My Spiritual Life (the group I started)

180 Service Station (a great group by Rob Clinton who is a great coach)

4 Points Coaching - Finding your Voice (a strong group with a great following lead by Joel, your first welcome commenter :)

There are lots of other groups available, so check out the directory if you want to meet up with people here who have similar interests and/or passions as you do!

Again, great to see you here!

Hi Thomas -- Welcome to the 48 Days community. We're glad you joined.

This is the idea and social networking site for people that want to create their own opportunity.

I'm curious, what are some of your ideas for moving into the work and life you've always wanted?

Depending on what your interests are, there is a wide selection of discussion groups to get involved with.

Breaking away from the "cycle of doom"

Posted on August 22, 2012 at 1:07pm 1 Comment

I just got off the phone with a friend of mine who's in the real estate business.

We were discussing the problem of people always going for the cheapest product and service. He works with a few construction companies and individuals who make a living at flipping homes. They are always look for the carpenter, painter, landscaper, etc. who will do the work for the lowest cost. This also includes his services as a realty agent.

He has a client for whom he has helped sell more than…

Lost that loving feeling?

Here's part of a post I shared today on my blog. Click here to read the rest :)

There are times in our lives when the relationship that was is a far cry from the one that is and the past seems like a forgotten memory. Whether it’s with friends, family, children, spouse, or even God, our love is not the same. There’s this nagging thought that something is just not right, but we don’t know what to do.

When that…

I am the greatest!

Posted on July 20, 2012 at 11:23am 1 Comment

I was reading this morning in Matthew 18: 1-5 when I noticed something...

People usually refer to this passage as being about having child-like faith, and I believe that is part of it, but only part. However, what caught my eye was how it speaks of being humble like a childAs a father, I can tell you children are many things, but humble is not a word I would use to describe them. I have two wonderful girls and they can be thoughtful, caring, and even considerate. Being…
