Profile Information

How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?

I heard about if from Dan Miller's 48 days email newsletter that I have been receiving. I hope to meet like-minded people in this forum to share ideas, and be inspired (and inspire others).

What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?

Employed full time and own a separate business of my own with my husband.

And then...what is the goal/dream you are striving for regarding your work life?

Trying to get our new business to a point of success so that I can eventually retire from my full time work. I enjoy my work, but I want to be in control of my income potential. A recent merger with my company showed me how vulnerable I am when working as an employee.

How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?

I am married (11 years this May) with 3 daughters. I am very happy in my relationships with my husband and kids. I live far away from my extended family (my husband and my families are in California) so some day we would like to be closer, but our new business currently doesn't allow this. I want to strengthen friendships and my other relationships.

What would you say are your core competencies? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?

I am a planner and very analytical. I like to think things through before executing an idea. I am not a big risk taker. I am less creative than I am resourceful and able to gather information and implement ideas, but I love creative activities (gardening, arts & crafts).

I have two businesses: the first is the business that my husband and I started last year - Camp Idyllwild is a nature-oriented summer day camp for kids age 5 to 11 in the Nashville and surrounding areas . We are thrilled to offer a unique camp experience to children - we love kids (have 3 of our own!) and love nature and the outdoors. We have a passion for wholesome eating, and protecting the environment that nurtures us, which reflects some of the activities we offer at camp. My second business is my own small direct sales company - I am a stylist with Stella & Dot, a new jewelry and accessories company from California that focuses on unique designs, and boutique style at affordable prices. I mainly sell the products through private trunk shows (home or office parties), but I also have an online boutique.

I use to live in Hawaii (Oahu) and had a 45 minute commute back and forth to work every day. I lived near the "point" of Oahu and couldn't have been further away from everything. Every single day, on my drive in, I would have the ocean on one side and the mountains on the other. It was GORGEOUS. I had to force myself to keep my eyes on the road to keep my car from plunging off the road. I really miss Hawaii.
