Will this idea grow?

I would greatly appreciate your feedback and opinion on a business idea. I enjoy gardening and have for many years, unfortunately I live in a townhouse within a planned community, and this limits the space I have for gardening. As I mentioned I live in a townhome but do have a good sized deck. After checking all the local suppliers, big box and others, I couldn’t find a planter I liked, so I decided to build my own. After a little research I discovered that heat treated planters can be used to…See More

Is failure the lack of success?

Posted on February 10, 2013 at 10:53am 0 Comments

For those of you who listened to Dan’s Feb 08 podcast he spent a lot of time discussing failure, he asked the question is there a better word to use when something or someone doesn't succeed?

As the story goes, Edison tried 10,000 times before he “succeeded” in creating the light bulb. I don’t view those 10,000 tries as failures; I can picture Edison checking off an attempt that didn't work, but I can also picture him learning from that attempt. For example, if filament material…

The Toyota Way - A Great Read and a Great Way to Do Business

Posted on January 19, 2009 at 8:17pm 3 Comments

I wanted to start this blog post separately from Dan’s blog about the Hyundai bailout…

I would rather instead about Toyota, specifically The Toyota Way. Like all car manufacturer's they are offering specials, but nothing as ridiculous as Hyundai. Toyota is a fascinating company to study, and “The Toyota Way" even more so. I cannot do The Toyota Way justice so please read "The Toyota Way" by Jeffrey Liker, once you read it you'll discover why this company is as successful as it has… Continue

What do you think of solar energy?

Posted on January 18, 2009 at 12:57pm 2 Comments

HI everyone

Thank you to all that have gone to my website http://www.icandosolar.com. It is easy to see what I am passionate about, solar energy, but with a slight twist. Most of the products I offer are DIY (do-it-yourself), products that a person can easily install without the need for an electrician. Shortly I will be adding passive solar products, products that do not have photovoltaic, again DIY products that will help you save money.

Based on my research solar energy,… Continue

Newbie, with a new business

Posted on December 5, 2008 at 8:30pm 0 Comments

Thanks to Dan's plan and insights and Chuck Bowen's coaching I have open a new business. When I tell people I have started a new business I sometimes get the strangest looks and comments. Mostly they ask why would I want to start a business during an economic downturn? My answer is simple, why not! My decision to open a business wasn't based on a whim or a fluke, it took time, research, reflection and a willingness to look a myself, and learn who I am. Surprisingly once I did that the rest was… Continue
