How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?
I stumbled across "48 Days" while at Barnes & Noble a few days after I was laid off. From the .com side I read about the .net side.
What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
I work for a wonderful company called PureDriven. You can check us out at PureDriven.com. I have my dream job, as their social media manager. Because we're a staff of eight, I'm essentially the marketing director, along with handling social media for both our company, and clients. While we build websites, our niche is in tracking analytics on websites, improving websites, and running social media marketing for clients. Although I might some day be self-employed, I love being part of this small but vibrant team.
And then...what is your goal/dream for your work life?
My goal is to become a prominent expert in the field of social media and content creation. Growing up I loved anything involving technology and communications. As a kid I loved playing with walkie-talkies. In high school I was an avid ham radio operator. And for 10 years I was a journalist working for newspapers. So social media is the perfect mix of communication, writing and technology. I honestly can't imagine a better fit for me at this time in my life.
How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?
I want to come out with a series of in-depth how-to videos for businesses who want to learn about social media.
What would you say are your strongest talents? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?
I like working solo and writing, and working with Internet technologies. I love listening to people and figuring out ways to encourage them and help them, although I'm not necessarily the kind of person who comes off as a natural encourager. In my DISC assessment I'm an "S": Passive, Patient, Royal, Predictable and Team player.

Hi Patrick

I really would like to work with you on SEO..... I got a little buried, which
is a great thing! If I could ask you to wait a week or 2 before we get started
it will help us both out. You would get a faster response and I would be able to give you more attention. OK? If you need some immediate attention go ahead and send me a email andoreza@gmail.com and I will make it happen.

Notes about and book review of "All Markters Are Liars" by Seth Godin

Posted on July 26, 2010 at 6:34pm 0 Comments

I realize Seth Godin's excellent book "All Marketers Are Liars" has been out for years, but I just got around to reading it. You can watch the short video I did on it, but the real value of this post is not in me providing my general opinion on the book. Instead, if you head over to my regular blog at http://www.puredriven.com/blog, you can read the extensive notes I took while reading the book. It hits… Continue

Chris Brogan, of chrisbrogan.com, has long been among my favorite authors to read and learn from. I recently picked up his book, Social Media 101, and believe it’s a fantastic read for any small, medium or large business owner who wants to better understand why they should be using social media effectively, and how to do… Continue

How do you make money from blogging? Here's how.

I received an e-mail from a client with a simple question.

"How does someone make money blogging." I'm posting my response here,

because it's a common question.

I'd love to hear what others think about what I've said.

Hello XXXX,

That’s a pretty big question, and how I answer depends on all sorts of

variables.

Blogging in essence is a way to build an online audience.

1. You (or someone you work with who likes to write)… Continue

Great book for grasping social media

Posted on February 3, 2010 at 5:38pm 7 Comments

As a social media manager, I'm always looking for books to recommend on the topic of social media.

This is an excellent book for those who want to learn the basics of how social media marketing works. With this book called "The New Community Rules: Marketing On The Social Web" you won't learn the insider tricks of Facebook and Twitter, but you will feel about 10,000 times more educated on how social media marketing works, and what sites might be valuable to your business. You'll also learn… Continue
