I sat down this week with someone to review their 2012 Marketing Plan. It was impressive - broad in scope, aggressive and responsive to the changes in their industry. It had a hole in it, though. A big one.
For a marketing plan to work, it has to lead to specific actions. If I have a house plan, I use it when I take action to build the structure. This marketing plan painted a good picture of where the organization needed to go, but said little about how it would get there. The actions…

It's a trap, and you can get caught in it just like most other people do. But at least now you've been warned:
If you begin your day by checking email, you're going to get snagged and dragged into stuff that isn't on your high-priority to-do list. Email can wait until you've devoted at least your first 60-90 minutes to the important stuff. When you do read it, look at the clock and decide when you'll be done. Then stop. My part of the country has experienced a summer drought for many years now. Here's what it's like as I drive home from town: all along the road, fields of thin, crisp corn stalks reach pointed leaves to the anvil sky, pleading for a mist, a drop, a downpour. Hot breezes push humid air over dry dirt, and dust coats my teeth. Misery!
Then, a turn in the road, and I’m home. As I make my way down the lane to Hidden Springs, the…
ContinueHi Ken! For information on how I make my Podcast, I created a page here: http://www.portraitwalkthrough.com/setup
I'm adding intro and ending manually during post processing, so I have to spend about an hour or two getting things ready to post afterwards.
Josh Ribble said… Ken, thanks for the info on Toastmasters. I've heard the name many times but haven't really heard from anyone that has attended. I'll have to keep them in mind.
Josh Ribble said… Ken, welcome to the Embracing Introvertedness group. I see that you're a part of Toastmasters. I'd be interested to hear how that has helped you or changed your life. Thanks for joining.
Josh Franklin said… Hey Ken, Thanks for the welcome. As you can tell by my timeliness (or lack there of) that the transitioning from what I need to survive to work I love is slow going at first. But I appreciate the encouragement Thanks.
Cindy Maneval said… Hi Ken. Thanks. I am so ready to graduate. It has been a busy 2 years with working full time and going to school. But it also has been thrilling, exciting and challenging!
Patrick Parzynski said… Hi Ken thank you for the kind comments about my ebay page. I am new to all the social networking so I am going to try and make my way as time permits. I hope to link up with some other ebayers to brainstorm how I can take my hobby business to the next level. Take care and thanks a million.
Sincerely,
