Feedback on Book Cover and Question

I've finally gotten my eBook cover designed and I would love some feedback on it. This is only the second time I've designed an eBook cover and it's for a much more important project (to me, anyway) than my one short story. My question is does anyone know the parameters (or where to find them) on creating a cover for a paperback? My short story, Weeping Ash, has finally started to filter out from Smashwords.com to other sites. Just noticed that it's hit barnesandnoble.com in nook format. I'm excited about it, but it's really weird to see it on a major site. I feel a bit squirrely about it. I had an epiphany this afternoon.It all started yesterday night; I'd had a brief but lovely text conversation with someone I love and adore, but with whom I very rarely get to speak. Profile Information

How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?: Through reading Dave Ramsey, then 48 Days to the Work You Love.

What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?: Former employed contractor in the nuclear industry

And then...what is your goal/dream for your work life?: I want to eventually be self employed. My goal is to be bringing in enough money on my own by the end of Summer 2011 to quit working nuclear.

What would you say are your strongest talents? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?: There are three things I love to do more than anything else: Reading, Writing, and Interacting With People (caps intentional). Since I first signed up on 48Days.net some of my thinking has changed in terms of what I want to pursue in lieu of the dreaded day job. The soap making venture has been set aside - I love making soap, but I don't really love it enough to try to use it as a means for income. I had also contemplated starting a tutoring business as I enjoy teaching, but that didn't hold my interest for very long, either. I've had to take a good, hard look at who I am, what attributes of mine are constant, and what I keep coming back to.

Here's what I've concluded:

I'm the type of person who sits in a corporate meeting giggling to myself because someone has said something wholly work related that my brain has magically transformed into something slightly pervy - it's as if I've reverted to a 14-year-old kid giggling at a stupid fart joke - I simply can't help myself.

I'm also the type of person who sits in the first course for her Masters degree and relates the historical context of Gothic Literature to Mel Brook's _History of the World Part I_, specifically The Roman Empire section. All without ever having met the other students and the instructor only once or twice. Did I mention I was in another country (the UK)?

What this boils down to is that I'm a giant kid at heart. I've always said that being an adult is overrated much of the time - We all have responsibilities, of course, and I'm no different in that regard. But I shine best when I fully lay claim to my inner child and let that part of my personality have free rein while still assuming my adult responsibilities. Being childlike does not necessarily equate to being childish.

Who said we have to let go of that playful part of ourselves? And why? Is there a certain age limit when we lose our sense of wonder at the world around us? Do we really have to be beat down, stressed out, and constantly anxious in order to be an adult?

I don't think so.

So my plan is to create a couching / speaking business that encourages other adults to accept their inner child, indulge it, and use it to counteract the constant bombardment of negativity, reclaim their dreams, and explore the world around them with a fresh outlook. I'm still sorting out all the specifics, but I haven't had so much fun since my last corporate meeting.
