Ready, Aim, Fire, Adjust Trajectory, Fire

Posted on June 14, 2010 at 7:40pm 0 Comments

Many on this site have a promoted a "ready, fire, aim" mentality in regards to someone following through with an idea and for good reason. For someone trapped in a mire of unfulfilling work, falling into analysis paralysis is an easy trap. If you have viable idea, better to get started on it even if it begins with "dipping your toes into the water" so to speak. Many questions about the business can't truly be answered without experimentation, so it is better to get started, fail quickly,…

IdeaNet, Seeing Results

Posted on June 14, 2010 at 7:14pm 0 Comments

This process of writing the IdeaNet series has been very positive for me. I tend to hoard thoughts until I forget about them or convince myself of its impossibility without consulting others, and while I have received a little feedback from the ideas I've posted, the process of writing them down, expanding on them, and forcing myself to organize the initial impression has shown me where I'm dreaming fancifully (e.g. starting a restaurant) and where I have the potential to… Continue

IdeaNet, Facing Up To Challenges Part 2

Posted on June 9, 2010 at 8:20pm 0 Comments

I'm on vacation this week, enjoying some time with family and getting do some activities that I haven't had time for in a while. Despite that, I also want to take this time not just to 'vacate' my brain, but also to use this opportunity to continue clarifying my thoughts and seeking direction.…

IdeaNet, Facing Up To Challenges Part 1

Posted on May 28, 2010 at 7:50pm 0 Comments

So I've finally cleaned out the my backlog of ideas (at least the ones I can recall at the moment), so now it's time to get on to the meat of the problem and move forward...and so I haven't posted all week <sheepish look>. This is going to get a little long, so I'm going to break this up into several parts.

While I'm not sure anyone missed my explorations into ideas, I still feel bad for not following through on my commitment to Tues/Thurs/Sat commitment. I could give…

Tech Thoughts, Remaining Relevant in 2010 and Beyond

Posted on May 23, 2010 at 8:46pm 0 Comments

At the beginning of the week, I mentioned a conversation I had with someone concerning a Phone book company's desire to remain relevant in an age where most people just access the Internet for information. I also said that I would discuss further what I talked about, but have only now just been able to get to the post.

So let's take a look at the situation. We have a company who made their name…

Profile Information

How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?
Dan Miller introduced me through his newsletter or podcast (I can't remember which exactly), and as this is a community of out-of-the-box free thinkers, I look to you to help me winnow the many ideas floating in my head.
And then...what is your goal/dream for your work life?
I have many, many ideas. My father was always thinking of new ideas for us and for himself and 98% of them never came to fruition. That has rubbed off on me as well, though I'm much more pragmatic and less wildly entrepreneurial than he. So I am using this location to share ideas and receive feedback. I will also have plenty to say against them and many times will talk myself out of an idea long before it's had a chance to root, but as Kevin says, the problem with self-employment is "self" and I'm not always the best judge of ideas. Thus I'm here to beg on you for quality criticism regarding the ideas I post here.

Please feel free to let me know what is good and bad about the proposed plan. I'm looking for reasons and not just yea or nay. Thank you for indulging me and helping me in this transition
What would you say are your strongest talents? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?
I am part mentalist, big idea, problem solver and part hands-on creator and fixer. I'm a Jack of many and a master of few.
