Anyone do financial planning for entrepreneurs / indie contractors?

Hi AllI am writing a resume for a woman in California who wants to go from being an independent contractor in the area of wellness and complimentary medicine to a corporate employee. Her primary reason is financial. She said that she loves being self employed but "the hills and valleys" of income are getting her down, and she doesn't have a lot of hope for improvement thanks to the stagnant economy. I have the gut feeling that she will really hate giving up her indie gig, but can empathize with…See More

Interesting business idea for someone with handy(man)person skills

I work in a company that is overloaded with Ph Ds. Two of them hired a person to assemble some furniture for their new offices - to the tune of $175.00 per unit, payable in cash. They found the individual  through the office furniture supplier.Anyone out there who is good at putting things together and has his or her own tools should consider offering this service. There is little overhead (a few business cards to put up at Home Depot), some cold calls on furniture suppliers, perhaps a few…See More

Profile Information

How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?
Read the book 48 Days to the Work You Love, and received an e-mail two years later - literally, out of the blue - with links to this website. I went to the site, and discovered it was exactly what I was looking for.

I would like to be able to brainstorm with others who are in the process of re-careering and build a business - and life - based on life purpose.
What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
I am currently employed full-time as an accounting clerk, but earn money on the side by writing, farming and selling produce and baked goods at a local farmers market. My goal is to be able to focus my freelance efforts and build on these to create full-time income.
And then...what is your goal/dream for your work life?
See answer above.
How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?
Two thinges I want on a personal level are: 1) to relocate to another state in order to be closer to the rest of my family, and 2) to overcome the health challenges that came my way three years ago.
What would you say are your strongest talents? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?
My strongest skill set is in the area of communication. I have had a number of articles and stories I've written on a freelance basis published (yes, I was paid), and I have edited other people's work so their self-published books were well-received. I also have teaching ability, but have not made a lot of use of that skill. Finally, I love to grow my own food and bake.
Do you have a website presence anywhere?

More than one website?

If you have a product or service to promote (now or in the near future) this is your shot to state it! Say all you'd like:
I offer editing, ghostwriting, proofreading and page layout services to writers. I will also coach new writers through the writing process, and offer critiques of works in progress.
