How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?
I heard about Dan Miller on the Dave Ramsey show. The main reason I wanted to be a part of this community, is to be around other like minded individuals who are pursuing their "calling."
What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
I compose music for tv/film (and a published author), yet I'm following Dave Ramsey's advice.... so in the meantime, I have a few things on hold UNTIL I'm 100% debt free in September of 2009 (when I'm also starting to build a speaking career as well - but "speaking" scares me so I say "give talks").
And then...what is your goal/dream for your work life?
Living 100% off of the income generated from my music/writing/speaking and products I create out of thin air that are in line with who I am, while continuing to build a profitable, fun, and meaningful company in a debt free fashion that serves others.
How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?
Too long to list. In short, to be the person I am capable of becoming.
What would you say are your strongest talents? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?
I have a degree in psychology and no formal musical education yet I just have a passion for making music that seems to fit for tv/film. I'm "wired" to just do whatever I think of (just finished my sixth cd that I produced and played most of the instruments on, I published my first book last year, I did my own web site, I licensed music to Mtv shows that is currently playing on "True Life, Two a Days, My Super Sweet Sixteen, Engaged and Underage," I COMPLETELY transformed my physique and kept it 7 years later)... I am SUPER organized and just love to "do" and "create" things that are "me" having FUN doing it.
They are a collection of different recipes that I've developed over the years. Everything from simple soups and sauces to dishes that take 6 to 8 hours just to cook the base for the dish. Fun stuff!
I really like your music - allot. Keep it up! I'll be "watching" you!
Hey, about being "biased" regarding talking about your own book...nothing wrong with tooting your own horn a bit...after all, it's there on the handlebars for a reason, and you're the one who can reach it most easily. :)
Hi Jared...definitely a Seth Godin fan. Read his blog every day if I get the chance. I've read "Tribes" and currently reading "Permission Marketing". I'm hoping to change careers to my dream of doing art full time within the next 3 years. I'll let you know when I've got my blog up.
(Forgot to say, I would like to read your book too - I used to make my living as a nonfiction writer in the field of academia, and I always love a well-conceived and well-done new read - sounds like your book might be right up my alley.)
Hey, Jared - thanks for reaching out to me on my page. Scotts Valley is a pretty nice place to be, actually, sandwiched right between Santa Cruz and the nearby mountain towns.
I was just listening to some of your sound files - I really like them a lot. I wonder if you're influenced by the Afro-Celt Sound System at all; while I'm not hearing a clear world music element in your work, you have both the really strong emotional quality and the use of an electronic sound that I normally associate with their work.
I make my living as a massage therapist but when I'm not turning formerly ouchy, tense people into happy little puddles of relaxation, I also am a musician - a composer and multi-instrumentalist like yourself, and a singer as well.
Thanks for saying hi. I hope we run into each other again soon. :)
