Starting on Ebay

Where or what is the best source to begin to understand how to effectively use Ebay as a selling source?  My main goal is to sell my scrapbooking items that I make, but in the meantime, I have 'cleaned the closets' and have some wares I'd like to try and sell. Thanks!See More

Etsy vs. My Own Site

Hi everyone,I have been on and off this site for a few years now & haven't really launched anything.  I've always had ideas of businesses I wanted to start but always seemed to have become stuck.  Well, after some solitude and figuring out what I wanted to do, I always come back to my handcrafted greeting cards as my own business.  My question to the group is should I just sell my greeting card lines on a site like Etsy, where the competition is extremely high and I cannot own my domain or…See More

Profile Information

How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?
Through your book, 48 Days. I hope to obtain some new ideas for marketing my business, I hope to help others and I want to toss around an idea for another stream of income for myself.
What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
I am currently an HR Manager for a locally owned, home health agency. The owner has disclosed her plan to sell the business in 2-3 years, so she can retire and I want to be prepared with another line of work. In the meantime, I want to start my dream of launching my own handcrafted greeting cards.
And then...what is your goal/dream for your work life?
I would like to keep working my business but balance the rest of my life so I can enjoy the activities my husband and I like to do: mountain biking, fishing, DIY home improvement. I would also like to volunteer at local animal shelters as well.
How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?
I want to pursue my dream, so my hubby and I can gain some flexibility and further our financial freedom. I don't want to depend on someone other company for my income.
What would you say are your strongest talents? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?
I am open, friendly and easy to talk to. I am creative & have a passion to create things that consumers want. I also really enjoy educating others and public speaking.
If you have a product or service to promote (now or in the near future) this is your shot to state it! Say all you'd like:
I create unique, one of a kind handcrafted greeting cards.

It's funny how things start to fall in your lap when you focus on something you want. So my story today begins.....

The company where I currently work is owned by a friend & colleague. It's just her and I in this business and we're struggling. Sales are down, but they are for our competitors, too. We had a talk today about trying to stay afloat and she's not making any promises that she can keep the doors open, but she's going to do everything in her power to do so, even if she has… Continue

I signed up for this a year ago when I was unemployed. I fooled around with an interviewing consulting service and it ended up morphing into a full-time job as a Business Development Manager with a local staffing company. This job is fun as I get to go out into the community and work with employers and trying to help them out. I write a monthly newsletter, market, market, market and work with key local organizations. I feel this job was put before me to help me 'come out of my shell'… Continue

Hi Jan,
Sorry about that, I read your location too fast. I must have had my daughter on my mind and just didn't read your location carefully. Many years ago Palm City was one of the locations for the GoKart racing circuit I used to do with my father-in-law. They still live down in Boca Raton.
